Hello everyone,

After years of being in debt and having charge-offs, collections, etc., I am eager to repair my damaged credit. At this point in time, I have paid off (in full) all collection and charge-off accounts. The accounts remaining, which include student loans, car loan, a small personal loan and one credit card, are all current and have never been late.

How long will it realistically take before I am able to say my credit is good. My score is still low (580 at last check), but it has gone up over the past several months. Beyond continuing to pay these accounts on time, is there anything else I can do that will improve my rating.

It may sound like a remedial question, but I read different things and am pretty confused. I have heard of agencies that have items removed, but then I hear the agencies are fraudulent, etc.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Read the page below. You will learn many things about repairing bad credit.

One thing you should do is pull your latest credit copy from all the bureaus and compare each item thoroughly. The bureaus often report incorrect items because of handling millions of consumer copies. You will like to fix any incorrect item posted in your file at the earliest. Pay the bills on time because this is the first and foremost step of putting your credit back in shape and raise the scores.
