I had a collection years ago from MBNA. I paid it off but it is still on my credit. I thought after 7 years it falls off. The account was from 1999 and the last update on it was in Jan 2002....when does this fall off?

Was it in 2002 that you paid it off or did you just pay it off recently. If you paid it off in 2002 than you should just have one more year to go until it is removed. Only things like tax liens and bankruptcies can stay on your credit report longer than 7 years. Everything else should fall off after 7 years from the date that it was either paid/closed or charged off.

I paid it in 2002. I was looking at my CR again and it says that it falls off in April 08 but it is April 08 so why is it still on there? Also why do some say when it falls off and others don't.
