I have a few charge offs ranging from two to four years ago. I am getting ready to pay all of these off within the month. How will this affect my credit rating and is there a way that I can get them taken off my credit report after I have paid them off?

You could request a pay for delete when negotiating settlements on these accounts. Always get it in writing!

The best way to repair your credit ( in my opionion..) is to do it yourself. Yes...their maybe good Credit Repair companies out there, but...it seems like ALOT of them charge to help you. Whatever you would pay a comapny, to 'repair' your credit, you probably could put that money toward your debt. Of course, everyone has their own preference on what they want to do.

You couldn't have said it better sdcharhers. The FTC states very clearly that everyone should stay away from credit repair companies. That's what my site is all about.
Soaplady, will creditors really completely delete themselves from your credit reports as part of a negotiation for a pay off?
