I just bought a car (which was a nightmare in itself). I am currently going through the credit repair process and couldn't get approved through conventional means, so I had to buy a car with a small local company that financed in house. Ok, that's fine. But I had to get my insurance switched over to full coverage, and b/c of my credit, it came to somewhere around $1600 for 6 months!!! OMG! My monthly insurance is almost as much as my car payment! Anybody else had this sort of problem, and if so, did you find out a way to work around it? I'm with Geico, btw...

Well I can tell you that I have HORRIBLE CREDIT! Absolutely horrible credit but Melife auto does not charge me an exuberant amount of money...I pay $110 a month which to me is pretty reasonable...

I have Geico.....for just liability on 2 vehicles I pay $280 for 6 months and my credit sucks bad!!!!!!!! It was like $120 for full coverage for 2 vehicles. Insurances also depends on your age and what state you live in. Here in Ohio it is pretty reasonable but I know some states where there is a very large number of drivers that are uninsured, such as New Mexico, the cost is much higher.

OH and Safe auto....They are not as reasonable as their commercials would lead you to believe! I would stay away from them...My ex had them and his insurance was higher than his car payment...

I've also heard that Safe Auto doesn't like to pay out, if one of their insurers is involved in an accident that is their fault!!

Have you had insurance before? Depending on the model of the car that too can cause a jump. Check to be sure if you qualify for any discounts - Some companies give good driver, good student, combined coverage. Also you can save some $ if you increase your deductible, I would shop around, some compaies can give you a quick quote without pulling your credit. I don't agree with that myself. Credit has nothing to do with how safe you are. I have seen plenty of people driving like morons in some very fancy cars. Good luck

Give AIG a call. They are, IMHO, a great company to deal with. I first got them when my credit was tanked. But since they rocked, I kept them after my credit rebounded.
I never saw what was so great about Geico in the first place. Even with perfect credit, they are usually much more expensive then most. And tend to drop you like a bad habit for one violation.

Rates depend on a lot of things. The state and county you live in, and of course your driving record among others. You might pay less in your county than you would in the next county over or visa versa.
