I have a chargeoff on my report. when should it fall off? Is it 7 years from the date that it is opened or from the date it is closed. Please help as I am trying to repair my credit and this is an old debt from '99 that is still on my report. Thanks in advance.

mj it should have fallen off already
but people resell re-age debts etc......can you provide proof of how old debt is? or proof of payment or not you paid? actually now owing amount? I think that will determine whether or not you are obligated to pay! asking for debt validation will certainly help you in this case i think!

Dispute as obsolete, it stays for seven years from the date of charge off.
