Question about address on my credit report

I was going through a debt settlement company, signed a limited power of attorney and just checked my credit reports. I noticed that one of my addresses is listed as the company's address.

Does anyone know why this is? Can I get it off my credit report and how would I go about doing this or does this make a difference?

I have checked two of the three reports so far and it is on both of them.

I don't know why it would show this, I don't think they are supposed to do this. I would write each of the credit reporting agencies and request a change to this information.

Do debt settlement companies normally have you sign power of attorneys? I would SO not be comfortable with giving anyone that kind of control, even limited.

As for the addresses, that is simple, just dispute it with the 3 CRAs..it is not your addy and shouldn't be listed as such. You could also contact the company itself and find out if they were the ones who reported that and if so, why?

I'm sorry I am not able to offer more help, I honestly don't trust settlement companies, I have heard that they make your credit worse (by generating a ton of late pays) and that CAs and OCs don't have to work with them.

gledenbast - you are so right about debt settlement. I went this route and it was a big mistake. My credit is really bad right now and I ended up opting out because they could not do anything for me. Then I had the hassle of trying to get a refund because they were trying to screw me with that too.
