Does it cost collection companies any money when they report information to the "BIG 3"?

Any company, whether it be an OC or CA(JDB), pays a subscription fee to any CRA they report too. Exactly how much? Who knows. But, that sometimes works in favor of the consumer when dealing with the smaller outfits who often will not verify a dispute on a paid collection.

Do you know if they have to pay that subscription by a flat annual fee, or is it "by the report" or "by the account"?

I've heard they pay a flat subscription fee plus a fee per tradeline updated but have not been able to verify that 100%.
