I have a "former address" on my credit report that is not mine, How can I get it off? It is only on Equifax and I tried to dispute it online and they said I can't because it was reported by a creditor and is "public record". But I never lived there. I googled the address and it is an apartment complex in Miami. I don't live and have never lived anywhere near Miami. I tried calling Equifax and cam't get a human on the phone and the automated thing they have does not apply to me. Help!

Look at your credit report.At the bottom there should be a address for sending disputes by mail.Send them a copy of your driver's license,soc. security card,and a current utility bill to prove residence.Write out a letter stating that you never lived there and that you want it deleted.

Call the creditor who is reporting the item in your credit copy. You may ask them to fix the error. Do you have an account with the credit company that's on your file?
