How does it affect your credit score when entries are dropped due to the passage of time? Does it improve the score, and if so, how long does it take. Thanks.

Certainly it'd improve your score. That's the whole purpose of letting them vanish. However, since it wouldn't be the only determinant of your score the magnitude of improvement may vary. But lesser number of negative info would definitely have a positive impact.

About how long does a debt that went into collection in 2002 take to come off your report? I haven't paid them off, they're still in collection...? Do those EVER come off?

After seven and half years time period which has begun after the first day of delinquency. If the time limit is over and the info is still there in your report, you may then need to take the initiative to get them removed from the CR. Dispute the entries with the credit agencies.

SC is right!! I 'disputed' outstanding debts, with the CB's, because they were on there more than 9 years. They actually were removed and my Credit score improved!! It does work!!

..however, I DO want to add, I had no idea I could get debts, removed from my CR's, or how to do that, until I came to this site. It's always important to check your Credit regularly.
