Duplicates on Credit Report.

So I recently got my Credit Report and realized there are duplicate entries on the report. These dups are originals that have sold off or moved to another company for collection. What is the easiest way to remove these dups and approximately how long will the removal(s) take? I am trying to clean up my credit as quickly as I can as my fiancee and I wish to buy a new home in the next year or so. I make a good amount of money but have "other" obligations that are taking up the funds currently. Also, when I finalize a payment with someone, what document(s) should I request from them to ensure that the debt is cancelled from my record as quickly as possible?

unfortunately, I had the same thing happen to me, when I sent disputes to the credit reporting agencies, they did not take any of them off, same scenario as you. They told me that they do not add to my negative status, even though they are reported 3-5 times, because they have passed through so many hands, and they are all the same bill.

So you can try to dispute them by going to the credit reporting agencies webpage or by writing them a letter, I have had no luck.

If you have luck, please post what you did here so that I can try it.

They just gave me dates when they will fall off my report, but my question to them is, when the original falls off, do all the following ones fall off too, since they are all the same bill I would think so right??

if they sold account to another company, their entry is not a duplicate but a seperate entry. It is allowed so long as balance says zero and comments specify sold/transferred.
