ok say they dont respond to a validation request and you have contested it with the cb.
Then what?
Can you also get a debt that has a 7 year negative reporting off your record earlier somehow?
Also, lets say the sl has expired. Is that the time you send the C&D letter and just wait your 7 years or what?
I have been reading the forums but really dont see these answers. Thanks.

Okay, lets take your questions one by one.

If the collection agency doesn't respond to your debt validation letter they should also stop all collection activities till they reply. Now, if you have disputed the debt with the credit bureaus, they would mark it as 'disputed' in your report. The collection agency would then need to prove the authenticity of the entry, otherwise it would get removed from your credit report.

Nope, if it is a valid entry then it'd stay on your report for 7 years. No way you can remove it before that. Some information like bankruptcy and judgement would stay even for a longer period.

Expiration of SOL only implies that you can't be sued over the debt but it doesn't release you from the debt burden. You are still liable to pay it off and the debt would stay on the report for its time, i.e. seven years.
