I believe that is a possibility although I am not 100% sure on that, others that have gone that route will be around to advise you further.

Yes , but if you are a good candidate for debt settlement its because you are overextended and thus your bills are either about to go past due or they already are so the fact it would hurt your credit is irrelevant.

Be sure that you are also going with a company that will pay for another company to do 3-cycles of credit clean up when the program is done. Otherwise you have to wait a lot of years to get it dropped off. I'm with a company that will pay for this. I've also seen my credit score go up because when i entered the program it was down, this is because my debt has been reduced. This is a great feeling!

Most settlements will initially drop your Fico like a stone. I do not agree with hiring someone to clean your reports as it can be done yourself with disputes & adding new positive accounts.

Hello,

Im no expert but I'v been repairing my credit with the help of allot of people hear and allot of reading. All I can say is it feel good to be on the winning side. f i where you i would fix your credit yourself. Yes it takes time but it took time for you to get in debt too. Send your DV letters. http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/letters/. Make arraignments to pay off some that are not to high in the beginning then work on the other. Let other fall off if there past the SOL dates. Get Visa gifts card or prepaid visa cards from your bank to pay debts back. So they dont have access to your main ban account. It wont be a quick fix, but it will be a better choice in the long run plus you will learn how credit/fico scores work and to keep up with your credit and stay up to date. Ya it seems like it a impossible task to take on the creditors, but with the correct information you will have it fixed in no time.
