You can't prove your identity? All you need is your social security number, name and address

Actually if the information is outdated in your reports, you need to make a written request for your report with identity documents.Send them a copy of your social security number, driver's license, and a utility bill. After you get your first reports the bureaus should update their files so you can access it online.

thanks I thought maybe someone was accessing it and they wanted to make sure I was the real person. I had that happen with Verizon Wireless as they reported to the credit bureaus that i lived in Brea California and that I owed a whopping $1795.00. Don't even know where Brea was. I had to fight tooth and nail with their collection agency and then last week got a letter in the mail about how they were requesting to get that charge off my credit report. But come to findout it still on there as a bankruptcy.

For cases dealing with fraudulent accounts,go to http://www.ftc.gov/ and click on the id theft link.It has detailed instructions on how to put creditors and credit bureaus on notice that it is not your debt and they must remove this type of info immediately.

If you suspect you are a victim of identity theft, activate a fraud alert with the three bureaus. You'll be immediately notified if someone tries to open a suspicious account in your name. The fraud alert will be active for seven years on your file. It might be something you want to do, even if you don't think identity theft is an immediate threat.

Here's the contact information of the three bureaus
