Anyone have any info on this?? I just saw on GMA that u can put a freeze on ur credit where NO one excpet the creditors u already have can look at ur reports. Now keep in mind, if u want to get a cell phone or such, u have to UN-freeze ur report for them to run ur credit...
Good thing or not??
Thanks for any info,
Ang

Ang A credit freeze is just what it says.No one can pull your report and the only ones that can review it are current creditors. Check out each bureau for more information.

The pros and cons are for you to decide. New creditors will not be able to see reports unless you unfreeze it.

Yeah looks like there could be perks and some negatives...for job seekers off the top of my head, if you freeze your account then the company you're applying to wouldn't be able to pull it. could be good could be bad. i think if you're hounded (and by you I don't mean you Ang with collection agencies and such, the freezing may not be a bad idea. i think it's a personal decision. I've heard of this long ago and did not think much about it until now, good topic!

Here's something I've always wondered..Is it really significant when someone checks your credit? Is it really that negative? It has never affected me in any way, but I'm curious.

Hi Ang,

It's funny that you posted this topic, because I just wrote an article about this very topic two days ago...thought I would make it available to you.

I thought I would apologoize,in advance, for the lengthy post...
