Default I Paid Off My Debts.. How Can I Get Markings Removed?

I was in the hole quite a bit and paid off all of my bills. Everything should be updated to Paid in Full on my credit reports. Is there any way I can get these removed from The Big 3? I want to fix it now that I've learned the error of my ways but I don't know where to begin!!

What can I do to get these negative markings deleted??

Unfortunately, they will probably remain on your cr's until they fall off. Now, one option you may want to try is contacting the collection agencies and asking or begging them to not report it to the Big 3. Then, you can dispute with the Big 3 and when the collection agency doesn't respond in 30 days as required, the Big 3 have no choice but to delete the items.

I am not quite sure that I've got a grasp of your problem

Does it imply that you want all the delinquent account to be shown as 'paid in full' in your report. At times, the bureaus don't update their reports immediately. Hence, it may take them sometime to update the account in your report. But if it stays longer then you have to dispute it with them.

Contact your creditors and request them to upgrade the status of their accounts' information as 'paid in full'.

The remark of 'paid in full' isn't as bad as the status of default/delinquent.

Also, there are credit repair companies, which offer services to mend your score by eliminating the negative entries form your credit. However, you should do a bit of research before you decide to join any of these.

Also if the account is still open and you only paid it off, Delinquency shows for 2 years I believe. Who is to say that a few months down the road you use the card and go delinquent again on the account? If you close the account you might be able to get it updated to at least show paid in full without the derogatory late 30,60,90 day marks.

From your query it seems to me that you are asking: -
How to repair your debt after you have paid your bill?

You can follow the following procedures: -
1. As a first step, you can send a letter to the concerned debt collection agency to inform them that you are either doing your final payment of the debt or have already paid the debt previously. This letter will work as an evidence of the fact that you have paid your debt full.

Two Paid-in-Full sample letters are given below: -
i. Letter to inform the collector that you are making your final payment

ii. Letter to inform the collector that you have already settled your debt previously.

2. Then you have to look at your credit report from 3 major credit bureaus. According to FACTA (Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003) you are entitled to get a free annual credit report copy.

3. Now, if you find that information in the credit report is not correct, even after you have already done your full payment, then you can write a dispute letter to the concerned credit bureau.

You can go through a sample dispute letter from http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com.../sample13.html

4. After this, the credit bureau will investigate the dispute and has to respond to you within a period of 30 days.

5. If they find any error in your credit report then the bureau has to correct or delete that part of the information from your file.
