Pay your bills on time. Paying bills on time boosts you credit score. How responsibly you pay your bills is the most important factor that determines your credit score.
Correct errors in your credit report: Review your reports from all three credit bureaus once a year. If you find any false information on your report, dispute it immediately. Remember your credit score is based on the information that is included in your credit report, so any error like a payment that is wrongly labeled as late is going to badly affect your credit score.
Reduce your credit card balances: A heavily weighted factor that influences your credit score is how much money you owe on your credit cards relative to your total credit card limit. If your balance is below 25 percent of your credit card limit then it is fine.
Pay off the balance rather than moving it around: It is advisable to pay off your credit card balance rather than transferring it around to other cards because the ratio of your credit card balance to your credit limit affects your credit score. The larger the ratio, the lower will be your score. So if you close an account and move the balance it will simply increase that ratio, and that will surely hamper your score.
Do not open multiple new accounts over a short period of time: If you have a short credit history then opening a lot of new accounts will definitely lower your score.

I know of no way that you can "erase" your credit legally. Improving your credit score is a slow, step-by-step process. I can speak from experience, however, to say that you will indeed see marked improvement over time as you pay bills on time and pay off credit balances.
