Hello,

I understand the basics of reading my credit, but I'm having an issue with an account that I disputed with the collection agency.

I disputed an item in April, and I'm not sure that it was ever listed as disputed with the collection agency.

Date Opened:
01/2011
Date Opened:
01/2011
Date of Status:
03/2011
Last Reported:
06/2011
Account History:
Type:
Installment
Terms:
1 Months
Monthly Payment:
$0
Individual
Collection as of Mar 2011 to Jun 2011

Another report doesn't show that much information.
Date updated: 06/2011

I pulled this report July 11th when I still hadn't heard from the collection agency about the validity of the debt. Admittedly, I should have checked sooner, but a family crisis popped up in June and I wasn't even in my own state. I'm not disputing the that I owe, but I'm disputing the dollar amount which is nearly twice as much as I think it should be.

They since "verified" the debt, but I'm still disputing the balance and I sent them another letter doing so just the other day.

Everything has been sent certified and I have records to prove it.

I guess my question is if this is being reported accurately or if there is a way to see if they've reported it accurately or not.

OK. Well, I'm confused because there's no company name listed or anything. Is this exactly how it shows on your report?

Also, if you disputed it, that should show on the report. Did you dispute with the CA or with the Bureau or both?

At the time I pulled the report, I had only disputed it with the collection agency. (I have the certified receipt.) When I pulled the report and noticed it wasn't disputed, I went ahead and disputed and checked the other 3. Neither of them had it listed as disputed so I disputed it with all 3 a that time.

I disputed the debt on April 25th, I originally pulled the report on July 11th. I got sent "verification" on August 1st.

Your credit report contains a wealth of information about your financial actions. If you have credit or loan accounts, those accounts, and how you pay them, are included in your credit report. It’s important to review your credit report at least once a year so you know what your creditors are saying about you.
Understanding your credit report can be confusing, especially if you’re reading it for the first time. Here is a breakdown of the types information contained in your report.
