Just received a message for my credit report this morning with this company listed and $135.00 debt tacked to it. Have absolutely no clue what it's about (doesn't even read BMG anywhere on my credit report). Has the same listed date as all of you (December 200

with a 1 month "no payment" listed. Received a call about 3 weeks ago, and a young lady told me something about $135.00 debt for a medical bill from 1997. I asked her for specifics because I had no idea what she was talking about and she told me she had no specifics (I guess not from 1997). She then transferred me to a answering machine that requested all my pertinent information (including SS#). I hung up believeing it was a scam (and I certainly wasn't going to leave my SS# on an answering machine). I just disputed the item on my Experian account and will be calling this NCS later today once they open. I'm at a complete loss at to how they get away with stuff like this.... I find it interesting they can find my unlisted phone number to call me but they can't find my home address to mail me what this is all about? I've never even received a voice message from them stating what this is about. It just so happened my husband picked up the phone three weeks ago and it was this lady talking about a medical bill from 1997.
Here's what I don't understand outside of all this... How in fact can a collection agency contact you for something that's over 10 years old? Whether it be BMG, Medical Bills, etc? And then how can they place something on your credit record when they haven't even sent you a piece of mail (something tangible), that explains what the collection is about? This is all too weird to me!
