This is for the first time I forgot the payment date. It happened last month. They have charged late fees with this month's bill. How could I do this? I had the money with me. I just forgot to pay. Now its going to be there in the history. I am really frustrated. Crying or Very sad

was this for a credit card? Maybe you could try to call them and explain your situation and perhaps they will waive the late fees....worth a shot

Thanks for responding to me ladybug.

Yes, it was for a credit card. I made the blunder in January and they have already charged late fees with this month's bill. But this time I have paid in 7 days before the payment date!

I am realizing that I have become unmindful! I am forgetting important dates, events and tasks these days...not sure what's wrong with me.

I am more concerned about my history. I had a good record with this credit card company. Any suggestions on what to do now?

I would call them on the phone and explain your situation..I am sure if you have been a loyal customer for years they may take this into consideration and waive the late fee...it's worth a shot.

I personally think that the credit card co's are hoping that people will pay late then they can charge the late fees. This happened to my husband one time, he called them and they waived the late charge so it's worth a shot.

There are a few on line payment companies that one can use. They alert you as to when your bill has come in. You can log in and schedule a payment as soon as the bill comes in for when its due.
Like when I get my bill today and its not due until march 20 I can schedule it to be paid then or when my pay check comes in. This is one reason I am very seldom late on my bills. (Yes I have one utility bill that either has to be mailed in or paid at some office).

If is isn't past 30 days it wont report to the CRA's so your good there. If this is your first time missing a payment/late payment, you should give a call and talk to them - and they may just wave your fees this one time. They may also overlook the late payment in the future. It never hurts to call and ask.

You can also try places like mint dot com to help remind you about paying your bills. There are many other sites if you research.

I'm sure we've all missed one no matter how much we try to keep things straight. It isn't the end of the world.

Good luck OP.

Yes remembering dates is something very tough....especially for people like me who suffer from poor memory.I remember forgetting the due payment date for my Citi card but they dint charge me as I was only a day behind and moreover their trusted customer.

From that day onwards I stick a paper that has all the due payment dates on my refrigerator. Every time I open it I can notice the dates.
