My son Lied about his dob by one year exactly so he could take out a phone contract. He is now eighteen but and has paid every month for this contract but is being refused credit because the dates of birth don't match on the credit report. Is there anyway he can correct this without receiving action against him?

I believe what he needs to do is dispute this with the credit agency but I'm not sure what the consequensces would be for lying about the DOB. I've read and even personaly seen in my line of work DOB's and other items incorrect on credit reports.

Maybe someone else can come along and answer the consequence part..

there are mistakes on credit reports all the time. i myself had my sisters employment history, my ex-boyfriends grandmothers previous address (how that happened i will never know) and a student loan that my bro took out (in his name) on my report.??????????? Just write the credit bureaus and ask them to correct the mistake on his credit report. There are tons of websites that have there contact info and proper procedures. Either way, you have to correct it as soon as possible, because he will need most likely credit down the line, good luck
