About MCYDSNB and VISDSNB

MCYDSNB and VISDSNB stands for Macy's credit card (formerly Federated Department Stores, Inc.). Here DSNB stands for Department Stores National Bank.

  • VISDSNB or MCYDSNB normally shows up in your credit report when you are paying for something using Macy’s Star Rewards card.
  • Even if you never had a Macy's card, VISDSNB or MCYDSNB may show up in your credit report. Macy's has acquired many other department stores and thus it may be showing as Macy's if you've had an account with Kauffmans, L.S. Ayres, Bon Marche or some other stores that Macy's has acquired later on.
  • There are reports that they reopen previously closed accounts or send Macy's card to clients of acquired departments.
heatherb1214 (guest) says apparently when macy's bought out foley's..macy's automatically sent out a card. i never received it b/c i had moved...they're sending a new card to my new address.

How to deal with it

  • If you are sure that the account was previously closed or does not belong to you, go ahead and dispute the information with the credit bureau. According to Fair Credit Reporting Act, they are responsible for fixing false and incomplete information in your report. [Sample Letters]
goodnelly says Do not worry. All you have to do is to dispute the information with the credit bureau and the information provider...do not forget to send the letters via certified mail with a RRR.
  • Call 1-866-593-2543 (select the Lost or Stolen option to talk to the Macy's operator directly) and close the account.
guest says I know I have NEVER had a Macy's card...but according to my Experian, I did! I closed it by calling 1-866-593-2543.
  • You can also call 1-800-627-2909 to close accounts for Macy's, Strawbridges, Bloomingdales, Bloomingdales Visa and others.

Community Discussions on MCYDSNB

  • winnie tsoi says one of the Macy's cards (the red star rewards) has two functions: 1 is used as a normal regular credit card ... and the other one is used as a regular Macy's ONLY credit card... Under the same card, there are two accounts, which their names are VISDSNB and MCYDSNB... i got these info by calling Macy's. ...
  • Morningstar says You get this removed by disputing it with the credit reporting agencies (experian, equifax, transunion). If not verified within 30 days, it must come off. However, if re-verified at a later date, it will pop up again...
  • Guest says i have a macy's credit card and it comes up as mcydsnb on my credit report. not sure if this is the number you need, but it's the one they send me on my bill: 1-866-593-2543...
  • Mackie says VISDSNB is joined with Federated Stores....so you have to make sure they close both accounts, or just one of them.
  • Luiza says I read the policy at the end of the brochure I got for the Macy's card...It says there that if you apply for a card in store with their express application you will be considered for a VISA card with two accounts, one for Macy's , one for other stores that accept VISA. This happens only if you apply in store and of course are approved for both of them.
