800-424-5004? I call it back and it asks me for an account number.

In all the searching of that number in google, many other boards are stating that number is a scam related to Chase Bank. Punch that number into google and check out the returns. Some of the posters have said they have talked to Chase and Chase confirmed it a fraud.

I just tried to call Chase and they cannot confirm the number for me. All that they tell me is that they have a call center in Bombay. They said that it may be a telemarketer.

Call chase and ask them to verify you acct. balances and such. If something's wrong they should be able to help you right then, if nothing's wrong then ignore the calls and add their number to the national do not call list.

I have added the number to the do not call list. However, when I got home yesterday, I had 8 messages to call them back. Isn't that harassment?

You can report harrassment to your phone company. The issue is whether the calls originate from within the US. If they don't, good luck on any harrassment complaint being worth the paper it is printed on. And being that the company calling is probably not connected with Chase...
