If my husband and I are still legally married (not living together but not legally separated), if he added my name to his passbook savings account, can I get my paychecks direct deposited into his account if he's the primary account holder? Any info on this would be much appreciated.

dBaker- In my state you can. My mom has me on her checking and savings account-not as the primary-but on it. I can take money out,deposit,etc. Call your bank and make sure you can, but you can here..Karen Very Happy

Yes, you can. You will just need his account and routing info. You don't even need a signature from him.

Can I also withdraw the money or would my husband have to withdraw it? Would I ask for my own passbook? I'm not sure how this works. Thanks.

Bossy, I know you said you can withdraw money from the account you're on with your mom. My husband just has a passbook savings account, so not sure how that would work.

You would have to be added on to the account in order to withdraw.

They shouldn't. Being an existing account, they probably will not run any check on you.

When I tried to add my husband on to my account, they ran him through chex systems. He couldn't be added on to my account since he was in the system.

dBaker, if he adds your name to the account, you can withdraw or deposit money-it's your account too! My mom added me, and I can withdraw or deposit,don't know about 2 passbooks, we just use one, but don't know why you can't get one too,or at least a check book register, where you can keep track of the balance,etc..Karen
