They've called my mother in another state twice, i called them back today. They're threatening to take this to federal court over $2,000.00 if i don't pay in full within 24 hours. I had this account for years, and have paid a LOT of interest. When they (Bank of America) wouldn't lower my interest rate after the big crash cost me 3/4 of my income, I stopped paying. Can they really go to federal court and have my wages garnished as i was told by Northstar today?? And what about the person whose mothers' account was tapped into?

northstar is a JDB scam.next time they call demand something in writing and state you will not talk to them again,or even think about paying until you receive it.btw they have to sue in your town, village, county,or bourough.another btw federal court is not for civil matters like regular debts, and they would have to serve you according to your state laws.as far as the guy wjo's mom's cc was abused.that is the best evidence i can give as to not pay them.a criminal enterprise.

They misrepresented themselves, hacked my bank account and sent me harassing phone calls. They had me going to the police. Then sent my paid checks from 2009 and not all consecutively (8May 27, October)to the DA. I don't have the receipts and I am paying 804.61 for 4 checks that equaled $68.96. I hope someone can stop them. I think they even sent a virus to my phone and my computer. I think they had someone follow me in a car and harass me on the road.

They called the other day looking for someone I'm related to. I had to laugh when he asked for their ph #. They then told me I could be arrested for not helping them find this person. I was laughing so hard they hung up and not 5 mins later some woman called and tried sweet talking me. I guess she didn't like the fact I was laughing so hard I couldn't catch my breath. Caller #1 called back a hour or so later and told me I was being reported to the credit agencies for aiding and abatting. LMAO!! Do they even know what they are talking about?

Northstar, check your phone records. You called me at 1:37 PM on 4-6-11. If you are willing to offer me a substantial cash advance I may be will to give you the info you are after. I don't do anything for free.

I guess I don't understand whose side you're on...people are not dogs and don't deserve to be treated without respect. Debts come and repayment is not always easy but it doesn't require some idiot harassing you about it.
Please clarify...

If your debt is 5-6 years old then just hold out. You are free and clear after 7 years. Just hang up on those collection agencies or don't answer their 888 phone numbers. Furthermore it IS illegal for them to call without a name (on your callerid). Turn them into the feds under the FCRA. If you the call info saved on your phone keep it for proof. You might not ever hear back from the feds and you won't get any kind of recompense, however they will get fined.

FYI, these people were either (a) hired by someone else to collect the debt, or (b) were sold the loan (the debt you owe them) so are trying to make some money. These collection people do NOT even check your income info or ability to pay, they just keep harassing you. Anyway, just wanted to mention that you are never going to get rid of the student loan debt. Ever. It doesn't go off your credit like other things do after 7 years. And they will keep trying to collect forever. So when (if) you ever get any income would call the student loan people directly (the government ones who backed up your loan) and make a payment arrangement. I was able to pay only $25 a month. It took me a couple decades to pay it off, but now it is gone. Just an idea. Good luck.

Saying your brother is going to "get arrested" is a stupid, empty threat. It is bullying, nothing more. There is no such thing as debtor's prison anymore!!! Tell your family to hang up on these people or, better yet, just don't answer any 888 phone calls with no name showing. Good luck.

It IS a violation of the fair credit reporting act ("FCRA") to call your place of work. They might call it once because they have the number but don't realize it is a place of employment. But they cannot call again. You need to file a complaint with the Feds. First they will get a fine and second they will get put out of business (once there are enough complaints). Good luck.

Absolutely, I agree with you. A complaint should be filed against them with the BBB.

This company is a joke. I was the one contacting them to do right by my debt. I spoke with a "Luma" and a "Mr Bill". Both were incredibly rude, laughed at me and told me they would do nothing for me and would raise the rate to 80 cents on the dollar. So sorry mr bill, you wont be getting any money from me
