I was doing a quick search online a few days ago and saw that in NC, Check n Go, (or one of those worms), was sued in a class action lawsuit. It seems that in NC, they had to quit doing payday loans completely after 2001, or something. Anyway, this place never closed down. Now, they are GOING DOWN! Woo hoo!

I agree! I think the entire PDL industry should be eliminated. I don't care if some of them are operating legally or not - it all amounts to legal loan-sharking in my book. I find no useful purpose for these companies at all.

Spoke to a lady at the pa dept. of banking, she said they filed a lawsuit against advance america and checkngo, no judges decision yet. she told me that all customers are obligated to pay because they are under current contract, but to watch the pa dept. of banking web page for updates and possible reimbursement through civil litigation with these companies. She also said that the internet pdl companies follow the laws of the state they are based out of, not the customers home state. Just spoke to her on friday.

Fedup,
That's GREAT news about those two outfits. I had personal dealings with Advance America and know for a fact that they are nasty buggers, so couldn't happen to a nicer business, imho.

I think it is sad for those individuals on disability with a fixed income, I see them standing in line and paying there loan fees for advance america, this has got to be the worst. you get a $500 loan (line of credit) you pay $172 a month and only $20 comes off the principal. It takes forever. Predator lenders!

I dealt with Advance America too - and had to deal with a branch manager that had some serious issues, to boot. One day she would be all nicey-nice, offering me payment arrangements, etc., which I would agree to and make my payment per their terms. A few days later, she would call me, threatening to "go legal" if I didn't get the full balance due on the loan in there, and to quote her, "I don't care if you have to beg, borrow or steal it, you'd better get that money in here". And yet a few days after that, she'd call me and be all nice again, saying her "district manager" said we could work out payment arrangements. Nasty people.

They used to do their bad cop routine with me at the end of the month, because I think that their corporate comes down on them then. The rest of the month was OK.

I will have to deal with them on 2/9, I won't have all their money, they have gotten their money off me 6x with the fees I have paid. I want to pay $100 a pay, it will take me 4 pays to pay it off, I think that is reasonable. He will give me a bunch of crap, but at this point I really don't care. I have given these idiots enough of my money, so if he can't agree to that, toooooooo bad, I will make a lower offer.

What are they gonna do that their ridiculous fees haven't already accomplished? I have been late on my mortgage and car for the last time trying to keep up with a never ending battle with them. Won't do it anymore. I know the managers lose some kind of bonus if they don't have all their accounts collected. I am not real sure how that works but one told me that one time. I guess it hits home when it is money out of their pockets, now they know how the customers feel month after month. Wonder if they would use their own product? Good question for them huh?

Just got off the phone with checkngo online, sounds as if they will just keep accepting the returned ACH until they get one to clear. This may actually give me time to save up and pay them all at once. There is a method to my madness just not sure what it is. I called langhorne, unless I have 4 or more they will not work with me. I actually have a hell of alot more than 4 but have managed to work out payment agreements with them myself. No sense in paying some one else to do it. You guys have been a great help.
