Thats what they're calling it.

Sacramento is #4 in the country in Foreclosures....shameful "bragging" rights.

So now, realtors are taking potential homebuyers around neighborhoods by the BUSLOAD to look at foreclosures at $20/pp.

Holy Smokes! Just when you think you've heard it all.

I read an article sometime last week, that stated in some cities the number of vacant houses (due to foreclosures) is actually greater than the number of homeless people. Some of them (the homeless) have actually taken to being squatters in these vacant houses.

I also saw an article on the news about the epidemic of abandoned pets due to this crisis. People move out and they either cannot or don't want to take their pets with them, so they just leave them behind. Sometimes still in the house itself. A representative of animal control that was interviewed, said they cannot even enter the houses to get the animals for 15 days. I'm thinking the pet would either starve, or be very close to it, by the end of the 15 days. Sometimes you have to break the rules in order to do what it morally right. They should also track these people down, that do abandon those pets, and make sure they never get another as long as they live. If they feel one pet is just "disposable" like that, they really don't need another.

The Sacramento SPCA has been overloaded with abandoned pet calls in empty homes and its very heartbreaking. Pedigree pet food has a campaign to help with this effort....not sure if you have seen the commericals, but they make me ill.

Another issue we are having here is people setting their homes on FIRE when they are about to be foreclosed on.

Ooops! Sorry I had my comment incorrect to you in the PM I sent. It's Pedigree running the adds, not the SPCA. I still don't think I've seen any run here, yet. Probably will, though.

Setting fire to their foreclosed houses? Wow, that is a little strange. I've heard of people that are foreclosed upon leaving their houses in "less than move in condition" before, but setting fire to them is a new one one me.

Yep...fire issues. When I worked in mortgage servicing, I coordinated properrty preservation work and we had the classic "cement in the drains" and "all windows removed"..etc, but fire usually wasnt a problem.

Desperation at its finest!

Cement in the drains?!?

I must not have a very devious mind, I would never have thought of "cement in the drains."

Unbelievable.

I don't understand why poeple would do such mean things??? If you are losing your house...it's sad I agree...but sometimes if you do something early enough you can prevent that from happening...and even if you can't, what purpose does ruining the house make??

I hear ya morning....sometimes foreclosure can bring out emotions that one didnt know they had. (not everyone)

I just clicked on the local news and they are holding a "Call-in Phone Bank" to help people with the mortgage meltdown.

We see the house burning thing quite a bit here. When we bought out house and went to get homowners insurance it was sky high. When we asked the insurnace person about it we were told that house insurnace is high becuase people will burn their homes when they can not pay.
