Hi
Signatures play a very important role or work as a word of mouth. If you have something very informative to say, it's better to attach it as a signature and let everyone read you without writing it multiple times.
But sometimes, I have seen a few here marketing their websites, eg.. Links to their website on "get payday loan" or "get your credit repaired" and stuff like that.
What do you say? Should these links stay as a signature? I am looking for some opinions in general before putting anything as a TOS. Also, let me know any other suggestions if you have in mind.
Regards
Denny

Absolutely not!!! I think signatures should only reflect either our own personal statements. And they should be postitive and hopefully links to organizations that truly can help. Not offer advertisements to many of the places that got us here already! But here again we all know I have a big mouth. But there it is..as my duaghter always says..Mom "It is what it is."

I don't think that people should be using their signatures to promote their own business or website. I have no problem if they have links to their blog etc but not if they are trying to promoteo a business or ESPECIALLY not payday loans!!!

Thanks everyone for your feedbacks. So, tell me what must NOT be included in a signature and if it's having an active link. Anybody violating the signature rule in the future will see this discussion.
Point 1 - No active links doing marketing for their websites.
What else do you think?

I think active links should follow our policy in place that is already in place. Mike explained it to me and I think it would be a good idea to judge links by the same rules we would in a post. A link to a blog or personal webspace is fine since we already do that. The link should also not give away too much personal info. for safety of members and person owning link.Any link that could be considered as marketing should follow our set rules of Admin approving it before it is allowed. We should also remember that we must follow Google's policies on links so we stay out of trouble too.

I think the links that people have to the laws like cajun has in his are very helpful. I thought about putting "paydayloaninfo.org" in my siggy because I use that link so much.

Thanks Denny! I,too, have thought that. I don't feel that the Forum is a place to advertise for their personal benefit. We have rules set up and from time to time, with so many joining, we may have to fine tune them! You and your staff do a wonderfull job of keeping up with this. Thanks so much..KAren

Thanks Karen, give a thought on the signature TOS and let me know if you find something to put in the TOS.
I went through the different signatures attached in our regular members' ids. You all have kept your signatures very informative either with a link or some text. It really helps. Those who have not attached any signatures yet, maybe you should think for one now.
Regards
Denny
