On Sunday our friend stopped to help a woman change a flat tire and up out of the ditch came two guys. He was held at knife point for nearly 7 1/2 hours while he was forced to drive the two guys and the girl from one crack house to another. One would get out and by the drugs and the other would hold the knife to our friends throat. They robbed him of his paycheck and took his credit cards. When they made the final stop they all got out and he took off and reported it to the police. The one guy had only been out of jail for a week. Now our friend is terrified to go to work or go anywhere. Please make sure of the surroundings before you offer assistance.

Wow . . That's a scary story . . . The sad part is next time your friend sees someone in need of help he will think twice. The people that really need help won't get it, because these criminals make good people scared to help anyone again.
Your friend is lucky he was able to finally get away, physically unharmed. That is a scary scary thing.

It's scary but these crimes never seem to stop, in spite of all the latest gadgets the cops have. A crime can be stopped from happening at that moment, but the criminals still exist. Everyone needs to be careful before taking any such risks. You plan everything but when you see someone looking for help, you forget about being careful. You find yourself in a fix and more towards helping others before thinking about your personal safety.

Way back in 1973 my Father stopped to help a woman change a flat tire and was nearly beaten to death and robbed. So unfortunately this is nothing new. But, I am remaining calm in my new frame of mind. Howsad that people can't just love and respect each other.

More proof of the sad world we live in. My wife and I will not stop to help anymore. We slow down and yell if we can call someone while we remain in our vehicle.

Cajun, just stay careful. Because you never know if someone gets inside your car and then after a fifteen minutes drives, takes out his gun.
Ahh!!! Where is that safe world!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so glad that I carry a cell with me and I make the kids carry one also.I am on the highway a lot and if I see a car broken down I call the regular number for the police - not 911 and report it to them with the lic. plate# and I just keep driving. I wouldn't stop if the pope was lying in the middle of the road.

Thank you for bringing this incident into the lime light. I am sure we must have learnt some lesson from it. Prevention is better than cure.
