Default Speed up your forum participation

Hi,

I know we all spend a lot of time with DebtCC forums. Here are some simple steps to make your browsing faster (not only for DebtCC forums but for all sites).

This is only applicable for people using high speed Internet connections. Our browsers are made to work with all networks (even the slowest ones) and thus comes with a general configuration. By doing a little trick (tweak) we can enjoy a better experience (much much better). Wow, I get a lightening speed now.

Here are the steps,
  1. Shift to firefox (To improve the IE experience, I will only write if that is needed, do you want me to write about IE tweak?)
  2. You can do it manually as well but to make life simpler, please install this plugin.
  3. Restart your firefox browser.
  4. Go to tools > Tweak Network settings. (There will be a warning, click ok) Click on power and then click on apply.

Now see the difference. Enjoy life and let me know if you want a tweak for IE too.

Thanks,
Vikas

Update:
  1. Added a tweak for IE
  2. Another tweak to make Firefox faster

I would most certainly appreciate an IE tweak for this site.

Thanks, Vikas. It helped out my poor work satellite internet connection. Just a plug for firefox. It rocks and cuts down on possibility of garbage(virus, ads).I have used it for years.Only reason internet explorer is still on cpu is to update useless bill gate's buggy software that everyone refers to as windows!

No personal problems with Mr Gates just a little biased towards the fox . Firefox allow people to do a lot of settings and thats what I enjoy the most, the tabs and everything else.

Just an add-on to the firefox tweak before adding the IE tweak.

The above said plugin only takes care of pipelining, you can also decrease the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. I did not get an extension for it, so you will have to do it manually. Here are the steps
  1. Open a browser and type about:config into the address bar and press enter.
  2. Right-click anywhere and the select
    New >> Integer.
  3. Now name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. The default value is 750 ms, which means Firefox waits about 1sec before receiving the data and drawing it on screen.

Hope it will speed it furthermore. Enjoy faster browsing. I am working on server side improvements, we should have the fastest browsing experience at DebtCC forums.

I will be adding the IE tweak in a new thread.

Happy Weekend,
Vikas

What's the problem with IE????????
Do you really want an answer?

Ok - for starters, IE is bloated. It's a HUGE program for what it does. It's not very user friendly. IE7 finally has tabbed browsing (which has been around for 4 years). It is very unsecure. By default, it runs Java and VBS files - nice easy ways to virus you all up or load you with more spyware than you can handle.

If you like it - fine. But just know that using IE leaves you very vunerable. You can have a much safer and faster experience using Firefox. Tired of pop-ups and ads on webpages? Well, by default, Firefox blocks pop-up (IE added a popup blocker about 18 months after Firefox released). Firefox also has an extension called Ad-Block plus. If you have Firefox and do NOT have it - we need to talk. I have barely seen a banner ad in the 5 years I have used Firefox. Also with extensions, I can see the weather in a glance, search from the menu bar, download videos, view RSS feeds and more. I get none of this from IE. Oh...and BTW - IE7 is not compatible with a ton of websites out there right now. Thanks Bill.

My fav Firefox extensions:
FasterFox
ForecastFox
Foxy Tunes
AdBlock Plus
AdBlock filter update - Automatically update AdBlock

Just try Firefox. If you don't like it - uninstall. It's open source, so the nice thing is that if you uninstall it, you REALLY uninstall it. Not like other programs.
