I have been with AR Trust since October for debt settlement purposes. I'm getting alot of threatening calls and I am nervous. I need some feedback on this company

AJ-
I have not heard anything, good or bad, about this company. Are you unable to connect with them to ask them what to expect and how to handle the situation? I believe creditors will continue to call you, but they (the calls) should eventually stop or lessen once you've been in the program a bit longer. It's only been a little over 2 months right?

Absolutely check with the BBB...actually we recommend this prior to entering into an agreement...you should also convey your concerns to AR Trust about the calls, etc.

Not to get off-topic, but the BBB has increasingly become unreliable for checking on debt settlement companies. There have been a few too many bad eggs and recently, many BBB chapters have labeled the whole industry 'suspicious'.
Then again, they have labeled towing companies 'suspicious' as well, and I have to agree with them... Laughing

Look at the complaints, not the rating I guess I should say. I won't even go into the LA BBB farce! Confused

The BBB is like the wolf guarding the hen house.

Do you think that they will bite the hands that feed them?

They are a private company with the perception that they are consumer advocates! A scam!

lawexpert and rstimson-
Then where do you recommend consumers check? I can understand you both coming on here with your opinions of the BBB, but how about offering an alternative solution here?

The goal is to help people here....

"Look at the complaints, not the rating I guess I should say."

^^^ That was the final thought really. You are right, I should have elaborated. There really is no other choice at the moment to check up on a company that I know of. But the "rating" of a company by the BBB should not be a deciding factor IMHO.

They will rate a debt settlement business who has never had a complaint as "unsatifactory" or give an "F" rating, for no reason other than the industry operating in.

I would agree 100%....the nature of the complaints and so forth really tell the story, not always just the whatever the rating is that the BBB has assigned.

As a consumer, I always review the nature of the complaints and whether they were ever resolved or not.
