Hi I Have one Store front pdl it's with
ace cash express.I have defaulted and
I am receiving calls to settle. The total amount I owe is 543.00 I was told
that I my only option is to pay them in
full or in two installments of 271.50.
I live in Florida and according to the
contract that I have If I inform them
before the due date that I am unable to
pay the full amount I can enroll in a
credit counseling course and have an
additional 60 days with a payment plan
provided by a credit counseling agency.
Has anyone else in this community delt with this situation before?

stevekathy, since you have already defaulted on the loan, I don't believe you will have the option of enrolling in a credit counseling course and another 60 days to pay it off. This is probably why they said you have only two options - to pay in full or to pay in two payments. If you had informed them of your inability to pay before you defaulted, then you probably would have had that other option of counseling and additional time to pay it off.

I paid off ACE cash.I owed them 518.00 and defaulted
on the loan. However I approached the store front too
late to make actual payment arraingements so I had to
wait for the dreaded phone calls to begin. They wanted me to make two payments but I told them that I could
not so I faithfully made one hundred dollar payments
every two weeks or more,if I could afford it.Bottom lineis that I continued to pay them off until it was
done.I have all receipts to verify that I did pay.

stevekathy - congratulations! How wonderful for you! It takes strength and determination to do this and you did it. Now you can pass by there and just shake your head knowing that you no longer have to go to them and pay them. Way to go!

What A relief it is to have these people off my back.
Even when I was not in default just knowing that I owed them made me sick.Being in debt to them and Internet pdls left me vertually broke every month until I discovered this web site.
I have an automobile that is so over due for maintenance, due to my ignorance about pdls that I
wonder if I'll make it to work some days.My car makes
noises and grinding sounds as if it were reminding me
not to make the same mistakes twice.

I can feel your pain and I'm so happy for you...and I hope and pray I'm as fortunate as you! I posted a thread on Sunday about my situation. I'm due to default on 4 storefronts on Friday and I feel 2 will work with me but I'm very afraid the other company, where I have 2 will give me a hard time. I've been paying them religiously for over a year and I just want the nightmare to end. I received some advice from others here that if they are a member of the CFSA they are required to agree to a debt settlement and allow me to do 4 installment payments. I've checked with CFSA and I don't think these storefronts are members...in fact I'd be surprised if they even knew what CFSA was...they would think it's a branch on another planet. If anyone could advise me at this point, I'm listening. Should I go ahead and make the call tomorrow before I have to default on Fri. and face the music, or will Fri. be too late? Since I work straight commission and I will not know exactly what kind of payment arrangements I can swing until then, or Monday, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I'm all open ears...
