Hi so glad to hear that MMI is working with you. they do work pretty quickly and your first payment will be used immediately if i remember correctly. your counselor will become a good 'friend' to you as well. Take care of yourself and congrats for beginning a great program!! Smile

CCCS charges a $30 one timeset-up fee. then the monthly fee is $30. I had some difficulty with a debt counselor there, but she has left her job and the fella that took over my case is very responsive. I think they are very good, but what I didn't realize is that I get the statements in the mail, CCCS does not. They negotiate a payment plan and disburse the funds once they receive my payment. So you need to keep "on top of" your debts and moniter what is being paid, interest rates etc. Report anything that seems out of the ordinary right away. I think they are good.I have been able to "settle" two of my debts on my own, as well.I had 6 PDL's, several credit cards, and a cell phone bill that got out of control when I lost my job, etc. It was a mess. The PDL's were especially hard to deal with. But as soon as CCCS took over, all the calls stopped and life became a lot more manageable. This is a wonderful site...lots of helpful people and information. Good luck!

fly, if you're checking into ANY kind of company, always check on the BBB site to see what kind of rating they have. Also, google everything you can possibly find regarding the company you are looking into. Compare different ones. But check out EVERYTHING you can. Start with the BBB first. Then google the hell out of them.

I think as long as the dmp company takes hold and starts notify your creditors you have a good chance of not being sues. When I started I was 3-4 months behind in everything and it took me another month to get my dmp off the ground...I had 4 credit cards and a ton of medical bills and 2 of my ipdls I included. I have been in it for 5 months and have not gotten any negative feedback or phone calls since I have started. Even the 1 cc that didn't accept the proposal is accepting payments and has not bothered me since it began. I think as long as you do your homework and chose a good company you will be fine.IMHO
