Lexis-Nexis report

Hi all,

Have any of you ever ordered your Lexis-Nexis report? I haven't ordered mine yet, but I am considering doing it. It is basically a database of public records and about a million other things related to you - it lists old roommates, in-laws, all kinds of crazy stuff. It isn't a credit report or anything, just some kind of information collection on you. It really freaks me out, hearing what some people have found on theirs, so I think after I get some disability money I will be ordering one.

I believe that if any organization is collecting information about you (be it financial, or personal, you have a right to know what information they have, and to correct any information which is not correct.

To find out how to access your LexisNexis information, past this address into your browser:
lexisnexis.com/terms/privacy/data/obtain.asp

It appear that LexisNexis does charge a nominal $8.00 fee to access your files. I do not know for sure if this is a request which should fall under the auspices of the FACT ACT or not, but given that they claim they do not maintain financial information, I sort of doubt it does.

I totally agree, Clay, but I know of people who have written to fix erroneous information in the report, and LN says "NOPE!" It totally creeps me out.

On the other hand, I have talked to people who have been able to get in touch with lost relatives, old high school friends, etc. with the information that they find on the report. I guess it's not ALL bad, but I don't like the idea of all that kind of info being farmed like that.

And I've heard that it takes at LEAST those 45 days, if not longer. Really weird.

I'm not sure about that one.......I doubt it. They don't really follow any "rules" or "laws" since they aren't subject to the same things as credit reports.

Nope, it's a good thing. From what I have heard, Lexis-Nexis is a common tool that law enforcement officers/FBI use to track people down. So it does have it's good points, of course, or else it wouldn't be there. Still scary to me, though.

The one bad thing is if you have the same name as someone else..lol There is another Jessica with my same middle name and last name that lives in the next town over...She's a real troublemaker. I've been confused for her before..lol
