Hey guys, some sad news...

Don't read this if you're already having a bad day, k?

If I'm not around much for the next few days, or I dont' seem myself please don't worry about me, I'm going to catch you up on everything now.

I've mentioned slightly about my dog Barney being very ill. I just had to make the phone call to the vet to schedule her to be put to sleep tomorrow.

She's lost a lot of weight and won't eat. She can barely walk, and even when she's walking it's clear that she's not "there". She just kind of wanders around and sometimes has to lean on the wall for support and she'll just stand there for a while. She drinks water, but she just won't eat. I even tried to feed her yesterday out of desperation and she wouldn't do it. This has all come on very suddenly, but she is pretty old--14 years old. So I've known that she's not going to live forever, but I'm having a lot of trouble with this right now.

We're also going to have her cremated becuase I can't bear the thought of burying her, and maybe not living in this house anymore in the future, or leaving her at the vet.

Pair that bad news with the fact that my job is getting weird on me. They do store moves every so often and they've decided to make me a "floater". I'll make the same pay, but I have to work a different store every day which gets stressfull. I'm fine with it..A little ticked off, but I'll survive. I'm more worried about my "puppy" at this point.

I just want everyone to know I'll be ok. Smile A little depressed, but I'm ok.

Jessi, take care of yourself. I'm sorry to hear about your dog, it's very hard to lose a pet. I'm glad to hear you'll be okay, yesterday couldn't have been very fun with that jerk attacking you and now all this on top of it. We're here for you if you need us.

Oh, Jessi. I am so sorry to hear of Barney. Even though, we all know that our pets do not live forever but it still hurts when it's time for them to go. She will be waiting at the Bridge on the other side. *HUGS* What kind of breed is she?

She's a beagle/corgi mix. I put a picture of her on the pet thread.

Thanks guys. It may sound kind of weird to say this, but I think I'll feel better tomorrow after it's done. The appt. is set for 9:45 a.m...I had to make it early because I'm meeting with that Attorney about GC Services at noon. That will be one positive for the day.

I'm sorry to hear about your puppy Jessi. My mom had to put one of the pups she got from me 2 years ago to sleep last Friday. My thoughts will be with you.

Thanks, it's from Chris's birthday in April. I am holding his birthday cake, but he cut it and himself out of the picture and sent it to me..lol I said, "Hey you could have at least left the CAKE in the picture. That's the best part!" hehe

I have a dachshund breed that will be 9 years old on the 18th June. He has been with us like our child. I can feel the pain when pets get ill in the old age. Jessi, comfort Barney as much as you can. She needs you besides her at this time. She cannot express her pain but will feel much better at your arms. I pray that the vet understands her health problems and cures it. Pets and small children don't know how to express their pain and bear it silently. We just need to understand them.

I know its hard time for you to concentrate at your job schedule. Do take care of yourself too, Jessi. Smile

Euthanizing her will be her only cure, I'm afraid. It's hard..I've been through this a few times before already and it doesn't get any better...But I'll pull through...Really what I need is some sleep.

Hi Jessie
I m sorry to hear about your pet. That is always a hard decision. My wife and I were just talking about out pets (all 4 dogs and three cats) health and ages last night. Our oldest and most loyal dog ( a dalmatian) is 12 now, and beginning to have seizures. She probably has a few good years left but the reality is there lurking in the background, and it's one neither of us likes to admit to.

Our thoughts and prayer will go out to you and Barney. For your own mental well being, its probably good your scheduled it for early in the day, so you don't have to go through the day thinking about it.

Jessi - Sorry to hear about Barney. I know its difficult - I had to put one of my cats down do to Cat HIV/Leukemia she was 12 years old. She was put down one year to the day my husband passed away. I had her cremated. My husband was cremated too. When his sister-in-law asked me to bury my husband 2 years later I said yes as long as they bury the cat with him. Which they did. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I am crying now for I get really sad and upset when a pet dies. I just got two kittens last week and they are a lot of fun and help since I am by myself and my other older cat who is 6. Best of luck on your floatation = maybe they are seeing if you can be a manager of many stores??
