Once a bank account is closed - how long before the bank (Bank of America) puts it to collections? My account will be closed on June 23. I am slowly making payments on it and will be paid by July 28.

Bank of America will be quick enough to send your accounts to the collections. You need to inform them about your payment mode before they take any serious actions. I guess they will co-operate with you if you can complete your payments by July 28th.

Checking account - I already have a new account with a different bank

I had a checking account there as well. They will actually be pretty slow if your making payments. I only have $169.72 left to pay on mine and it's been 6 months with nothing from any collections agency.

Really - that makes me feel a little better - I only have $292 to go, I made one payment last week and I don't know if I can make another one - maybe $50. not the $130 I did last week. So you don't thinnk they will put it to collections right away - maybe -3 months or more hopefully! HA

You will feel comfortable talking to BOA and explain your next payment plans. They might stop their actions if they intend to after hearing your proposal.
