Good Evening to all I recieved a phone call at 9:00 this morning from a person this morning stating he was a investagator and that I was being investaged for internet fraud because I recieved a payday loan and hadn't paid it back. I borrowed $200 and he told me I needed to pay $920 by 11:30 am. Or else they would come to my job and pick me up and it won't be pretty so he suggested that I tell my employer I have a family matter. He asked for my managers number and name. I called him back at 11:30 and asked if I could send in $400 by 6:00 pm and the rest set up some type of payment arrangement and he said the deadline had passed and that he needed the $400 by 1:00 pm and he could hold out on the rest for only 24 hours which would mean I would need to come up with $520 by 1:00 pm tomorrow. I have yet to call him back because he scared the crap out of me and I started doing my own investagation of the company once I called him and he stated his name on his voice mail and didn't call himself investigator ______ , he just said his name at Ellis crosby and assoiciates please leave your name and file number and I 'll get back to you as soon as possible. So I came to this web site and read some interesting things and I have decided to report them and not to take anymore crap from this collector!

FSM Gruop sends information to Ellis Crosby whenever there is a problem in any account. They do not contact the consumer regarding the matter.

So, unfortunately, it becomes necessary to contact Ellis Crosby for this purpose.

Make sure that you do all correspondence in writing so that you can trail all your correspondence.

Please try contacting them at the following address:

Financial Sense Marketing Group,
Taylorton House
Upper Taylorton
Stirling
Scotland
FK7 7LL

I have had problems with Ellis, Crosby and Associates regarding 2 payday loans...in each case, I was threatened with arrest and wage garnishment. I have filed complaints with the BBB, FTC, ACA, and the Florida Attorney General, Economic Crimes Division. I wanted to share that just today, the ACA informed me that Ellis, Crosby and Associates membership in their organization has been TERMINATED! However, they also said that because they are NOT a legal entity, they cannot stop Ellis, Crosby from operating in an illegal and unethical manner. So they can continue to do business.....I would advise anyone that is contacted by them to promptly report the contact and the harrassment that they dish out to the BBB, FTC, and the Attorney General. If we continue to band together, I am convinced they will be shut down entirely! Good luck to all, Melissa

I received a call from an Investigator Connor from Ellis Crosby - he said that in two hours they were filing charges for internet fraud and intent to defraud the banking system - I did manage to borrow the funds and to the western union. Now I am finding out that they did break the fair debt collections act by threatening to do something that they are not able to do. They threatened me with arrest at my job. I will be doing some more investigaton and will file a complaint with the attorney general. I suggest that everyone else do the same.

Again...We all owe this agency a debt for one reason or another....We all have a responsibility to our debt. Rather then encouraging everyone NOT to pay, we should be encouraging everyone to act in a way that will eventually bring these people down. First, there is the request for debt validation. DO THIS! It will MAKE them SHOW you the original debtor, the amount of the debt when originated (say it was a 200.00 loan) as well as what charges have been added to this debt since it was originated. When filing your request for validation, also include a cease and desist contact letter..this will basically order them to no longer contact you at work or home by phone, and to only contact you via mail. Violation could give you grounds to sue them. If they continue to call, tell them you are recording the call (even better if you can!) They'll either hang up on you, or at least clean up their act. so far I have filed complaints with the FTC and the Attorney General of Florida...I would suggest the same to all of you, they will actually send you and affidavit to fill out and have notarized. This is your chance to "testify" on the illegal collection schemes being used by Ellis....
Good Luck to all of you! (Myself included!)

Tabitha- I personally am not going to pay someone who jacked up the price more than 200% of the orginal price. Also they are using illegal tactics and we DO NOT know if the money we are paying will go into that person's pocket or to our debt. Ellis and Crosby has used everyone HORRIBLE way to collect a debt including NOT valadating it and not working out payment plans. Im willing to pay but they must shape up their act and also give me a payment plan that i can afford. Im not saying im not going to pay, im not saying that at all. But i would rather wait until i know my debt is with another company so i can be sure to be safe when giving my $ away!

Hey Katie!

I am certainly not saying that ANYONE should rush out and pay them now...I'm saying that we ALL owe the debt so someone somewhere down the line...if Ellis is collecting...then Ellis should fulfill our request for validation, but we need to be following the rules on our ends too, which it appears everyone is doing...If we handle this in a professional way, it boosts our end up, and if they don't follow through they end up looking like cowards. If we follow through as we should be, and THEY don't do their parts, that would basically be saying we don't have a debt to pay...correct????
I'm just saying it is best for us to do this the way we have all learned since coming to this site...by using our rights to the fullest extent! If we do this, and they STILL don't follow through, they will be the ones out of business. To anyone who is considering paying? I personally wouldn't pay until they have responded to the debt validation request, and if they don't, we all know now not to take their threats to heart...unfortunately none of us find this out until AFTER we've received that 1st call! So I'm sorry if it came across that I was saying pay them...because I'm not...I'm just saying that we do need to own up to our debts! (And I'm sure that is what we are all doing!)

I was contacted today by a Karen Baker from Ellis Crosby and associates for collection of a payday loan. She told me that I had until 2 pm today to pay the full balance, and there was no way to work out any kind of arrangements. I have already sent them half of what they are saying i owe. After reading here, I am thinking that I should not send the rest of the monies they are saying I owe. I am just looking for some guidance as to where to go with this. I do not argue the validity of the debt, but when I asked them to provide me with specific information, which they could not send me when I asked. I have sent an inquiry to ACA International to file a complaint. I have also signed up with a debt consolidation company to try and have them help me work out this matter. what else should I do? Thank you for any direction you can send me in.

Hi Ashley

Please read this forum carefully and it will help you in getting aware of many unfair collection tactics. You have the right to exercise your consumer rights as per the fdcpa law and stop all such atrocious activities.

You should tap all the harassing phone calls and inform them that you will be taking legal action against it.

Please make sure that you send a debt validation letter as it is most appropriate to fight against situations when a said debt is disputed. Please ensure that you send the letter through certified mail with return copy requested so that you have sufficient valid proof during the later times.

Regards
Roxette
