VWELLS, I am not familiar with AS & Associates, so I would advise you to do some research on them. Check the internet and yellow pages. Find out what kind of business they are. If they are in fact a debt collector then they are simply a third party attempting to collect a debit and have absolutely NO legal right to file suit against you or have you arrested. Thus everthing they said to you was ILLEGAL.

TOYA, Ellis Crosby & Associates are being sued by the Florida Attorney General's Office for extorting and attempting to extort more money than legally owed, so I wouldnt pay them a thing until you can validate the amount owed, who it is owed to and their right to collect it. Next time they call ask them to send you this information in writing. By law, they are required to send you something within 5 days after initial contact if they did not disclose it to you over the phone when they first called. Rest assured they are simply a debt collector and have NO right to file charges against you or have you arrested.

Toya, you do not require taking the call of Ellis Crosby seriously and do not have to pay anything to them during this time.

Since they have been sued by the Attorney general office of Florida, it is likely that you will have to pay your debt to the creditors or to any other agency who have been legally assigned to collect your debt.

Regards
Roxette

Rec'd another call from them on 8/31. I have been in contact with Atty. General in Florida. I wish I had known about all this before I sent them money. At least I don;t have to worry about threatening phone calls from them anymore. For a somewhat intelligent woman, wasn't too bright thinking I would be arrested..panic completely took over...

My account has already been turned over to a new agency: Elin Collect Edge? Let me know if anyone else has been referred to this company...ironically, after over 3 weeks of no contact from Ellis, some guy tried calling my Mom and telling her I owed them money and that I needed to call by 4pm with my attorney's information...Fortunately, my Mom already knew what was going on with them, so she wasn't freaked out......I just feel bad for the employees, they should have known better then to get in with a company like this, and look...now they are all going to be trying to find new jobs, with ELLIS on their resumes????

The reason I ask is I have someone from E max collect calling me. They say they are in India and it's about the account Ellis had. Anyway, they called me 10 times at work yesterday and twice at home. Today they have called 8 times. I've asked several time that they not call me at work and to validate it because I've already paid Ellis for it. Anyway, they keep calling back. They last time they called I was very blunt and short with them and told them I was going to file harrassment charges becasue they kept calling. The guy was very upset when he got off the phone and apologized up and down. He said it was on an automatic dialer, which they had already told me that, and that they were taking my work number off. Anyway,he said he wouldn't call me at work again and he would get me the information I was requesting. They haven't called in the last hour and a half anyway.

Michele....I just received a call from E-max as well. The guy sounded like he was from India but says he was from NJ. I asked him for his address and he put me onhold and then hung up. Do not pay E-max. Let the State Attorney General deal with Ellis first.

Dale,
They left a message on my voice mail today that says it is the last time they will try and contact me. I did call them back but got a recording that said it was transferring me to a voice mail. I didn't leave a message. I specifically asked them the other day when I talked to them where they were from and he told me they were calling from India. All I ask is that they show me where I owe it. I don't think they can.
Have they called you more than once? They called me the first day twice at home and 10 times at work. The second day they called once at home and it ended up being 8 times at work. Today just once at home. I think that is a little excessive.

here is all the info you need:

Collect Edge is the main company that operates out of New Jersey. Emax Financial Group, LLC is a subsidiary of it. I guess they all get a piece of the pie. Emax has an address in New Jersey but the people sound like they are from India and probably are. They most likely has no juridiction to colelct in New jersey. If they can't sell you a bill, you can't pay them. NO BILL = NO PAYMENT!!!!! The information is as follows:

Emax Financial Group, LLC
Suite 300
5 Independece Way
Princeton, NJ 08540
no telephone number

Collect Edge
P.O. Box 217
Piscataway, NJ 08855-0217
tel - 866-350-5696
fax - 732-748-4381

I am glad I saw this site. I just got harrased by them saying that my payday loan was at $900, and that I had another one at $250, which is strange. They told me that there was nothing I could do unless I paid the $1100 now, and if I don't to get legal counsel. They also said to not contact the payday loan companies, because this would be a form of harrassment, and I have been warned over a recorded line. I also asked to speak to a manager and he said he was a manager. what a crock. what is my best course of action? thanks

I am just sick right now. I just got a call from Collect Edge. They were very nice, gave me all requested info immeadiatley, they called about the account I paid Ellis in full for. They told me that my account was transferred to them and that the monies I sent to Ellis were not recieved by my creditor. They also told me the debt amount is actually far less than I paid ellis in the first place. I contacted the loan company, the woman I dealt with was extremely helpful, told me they had switched agencies and if Ellis had not updated their records than my account was probably being reported unpaid. She told me that she would contact me tomorrow and get to the bottom of this as I had forwarded her all my payment proof. She was really great. This is making me so sick I cannot even tell you all. I finally contacted my own attorney and he told me not to worry and be clear in my rights. I was. I checked these folks out and they seem to be legit. They also offered payment arrangements, gave me the contact info, web address, address, etc. They were very respectful of all my rights and that was a relief. I just can't believe I was scammed.

Ellis Crosby is not doing business anymore, perhaps, didn't want to. They believe in stealing money of the consumers. They are thieves.
