It's not just for people wondering about creditors and collection agencies, but to learn what to do, learn from mistakes, be aware of potential companies out there to do harm...etc

I would say voice it somewhere else. You don't know the reasons why the loan was taken, maybe it was for responsibility for your sick child and you didn't have money for their medicine so you went to the last place you ever wanted to go.....
Maybe you should go join Ellis |

Guest is just trying to say mistakes happen. And in some cases not always their fault. As I mentioned the payday loan companies challenge the borrower by attempting to take back their funds at super early morning hours. And seeing how the loan wasn't paid back it went to Ted Ellis Crosby & Associates. This collection agency/law firm is practicing unethical behavior and collection tactics by threatening to put people in jail. The responsibility was already declared when Guest said: Quote:

When people who have low credit scores default, they get offered credit cards with high interest rates. They'll probably also have to pay a large down payment on an a lease for a car or an apartment.
When people who have superb credit keep doing what they are doing, then they get a lower interest rate credit card, zero down on a car, offers such as 90 days same cash... Quote:
If your credit score is low, perhaps this forum can help you bring it up. We're all here to help each other. |

Mikey-- once again you brought up a valid point. Noone else's score can affect your credit in anyway.

Candy O, learn how to spell. I as well work in the finance industry.
Ellis and these payday loan people don't always operate within the legal limits of law. I have documention of a loan that was paid in full per the terms & conditions of the loan; however, this company turned over my mother's account to a third party collection agency when she closed her account. Sure you think you are above it, when's the last time you spoke to your parents? How much do they know about on-line loans? How about your brother or sister? Let these people speak without your 2 cents, prejudicial assumptions about people. If you have something to say, great say it, but don't judge others. |

Let's all remember the reason why we are here, to help each other with our debt problems and get answers to questions so that we can work through them. Ellis Crosby & Associates is the REAL problem here. Granted, they would not have even contacted us had we not defaulted on some kind of a loan, however, instead of attempting to collect the debt in a honest and truthful manner, they choose to humiliate, lie, itimidate and harrass people. That is just uncalled for not to mention ILLEGAL.

So, it's Friday and I am sitting at my desk minding my own business, when I get a call from our favorite collection agency Ellis Crosby & Associates! Spoke with Amber Williams, who informed me that they were ready to download court papers to my county to have me served with warrants concerning bad check and "conversion" charges. She said the company name was "Cash Options," who I swear I have never heard of, and I told her so. I told her I would call her right back on my cell phone so I could speak freely....and called Summer Saladino at the FL Attorney General's office for advice, since I have already filed an affidavit regarding 2 other contacts I have had with this company. She said to mention to them that I was in contact with her concerning their company. So, I called Ms. Williams back and after she spoke her piece, I told her that I would require written validation of this debt before I could discuss any repayment arrangements with her, and of course she got all snotty and how we could just keep this simple, blah blah, but I stood my ground  I just kept my cool and kept informing her of my rights under fdcpa and she kept talking and saying nothing of substance, and finally she gave up and said she would transfer me to their "legal" department, and I said that would be great, thanks, in my most cheerful voice! Got transferred to Robert Wood, who was much more reasonable....after I told him I was familiar with my rights under FDCPA and my contact with Summer, he said he will ensure that I receive written validation and I said I would call them back after I receive it. Further, since I am being told I owe $515, and of course do not have it right now, I asked if they would be willing to work out a payment arrangement if indeed this is a legitimate debt, and he said sure! SO....thanks, Summer, for the advice, and thank you to all for listening and advising...when I think back to how shaken up I was when they first contacted me in April, to how confidently I was able to deal with them today, I am humbled and grateful for you all and for this website. Blessings, Melissa
