I am sure every situation on here is unique. Of course i regret that i let an account get to this point. Also, I am willing and want to pay, but what sense does it make to pay someone that cant even collect a debt and is breaking every FTC law in the book. Worry about yourself, but it sounds like you are perfect so you can worry about us, Thanks. And now that your job is done, go elsewhere or take of your next job.

Kathrine...I just got a call from them stating they were going to have me arrested by tomorrow morning if I did not pay twice the amount of my loan.
uote="Katherine"]I had gotten some payday loans, and i was unable to repay them as quickly as the loan companys would like. The intrest rate is 600% or more!
Ellis and Crosby says they are lawyers ( when they are just a collection agency) and they have been threatning to pick me up within an hour, if i cant pay right away. ELLIS and Crosby thinks i am a HABITUAL offender because the loan comapnys are screwing me. But what they dont realize is that these loan companys are charging extra if you dont pay ontime. My orginal amount was $200, Ellis and Crosby racked it up to $560, just so they could file a suit aginst me. Its like they are doing it on purpose. GOOD THING I WORK FOR A LAWYER, and i have been informed.
THERE IS NO DEBT COLLECTION PRISON!
Ellis and Crosby has threatned to make me loose my job, and talk to my boss about it. In texas they cannot garnish wages without a court order. And they have totally violated a law. [/quote]

Hi Mechelle

If you browse this thread in the forum elaborately, you will realize that the membership of Ellis Crosy has been suspended and as a result they have involved themselves in fierce actions.

Moreover, they are going through legal surveillance and they cannot take any action against you during this time. Doing your piece of work, you can file a case against them at the FTC or the DA's office and request for immediate action.

Putting yourself in the safe side with valid proof, you can record all the telephonic conversation held with them so that you can present it to your lawyer and take legal action.

Please do not get worried. Law is in your side. They actually want you to get afraid so that you start paying over anything that they claim. Be confident and let them know that you are aware of your legal rights and you cannot be forced into legal action when their membership has been terminated.

Do let me know if I can assist you further in your queries.

Regards
Roxette

Have any of you noticed that the people from Ellis, Crosby and Associates don't use their real names...at least we have enough pride we can still use our names. I am in the middle of sueing them myself....The Madison County States Attorney office is going to be contacting them alon with the Attorney General Office. 'ote="Katherine"]I had gotten some payday loans, and i was unable to repay them as quickly as the loan companys would like. The intrest rate is 600% or more!

Default Payday loan problem

Hi! This happened to me last month. I had to borrow 885 from my parents who are elderly to pay this as I have five children and was scared to death of being in jail and abandoning them. Isn't there a class action suit or something that we can file together that will stop these people. The lady called me at work announcing to the receptionist that she was an investigator. She also had tons of information about me-where I have lived previously, where I formerly worked and that I do not have any criminal record. She told me she was an investigator with the State of Florida so I believed her. She also named my boss and said that he would also be arrested because he is responsible for what I do on his computer. Needless to say, I want to do something. I paid $885.00. Anyone have any suggestions of what can be done.

Hi dupont24

Welcome to the forums. As you were not informed and paid Ellis Crosby $885.00, you do not need to pay them anymore for the time being. The reason is that their membership has been revoked from June 1st, 2005 for a period of 90 days.

They are undergoing legal surveillance and are restricted from carrying on their business. This is the reason they are trying to scare the people the most. They are trying to recover the debt from the people through their fierce action which is a violation of the fdcpa law. Please inform the FTC and State Attorney General office about their illegal action and request them to take legal action.

I am sure the government agency must have piled a lot of complaints against Ellis Crossby and their days of business can be counted in fingers.

Please do not get afraid about it as they will try to bully you the most. If necessary, you can record all the telephonic conversation held and present it to the lawyer to file a class action lawsuit against them.

Please do let me know in case you need any more assistance from my side.

Regards
Roxette

Default Ellis Crosby and Associates

Hello again,

I received another phone call from someone with Ellis Crosby and Associates on Thursday 7/14/05. This person told me he showns in my file that I made a payment agreement with someone in his office but did not follow through with it (remember the person who called me the first time told me he was not in this for restitution and he just wanted to let me know that I needed to get a lawyer because as of 5pm they were filing charges against me). I told him that was not the topic of our conversation. He then placed me on hold and someone else got on the phone he said his name and the name of the company but I didn't understand him so I asked him what company he was calling from and he got loud and asked me didn't the person who transferred me tell me what company he was calling from. I then told him when he calls my phone he needs to calm down and I hung up.....They never called back. I have a feeling that isn't the last time I'll here from them. ***The point is, these people are trying to play mind games and scare the shit out of you. Don't fall for it and don't be scared. As a matter of fact, don't even waste your time talking to them. If anyone needs any advice please let me know.

Default phone call

I received a phone call from these people in early July, I knew it was coming because I have been reading these forums and knew I put a stop payment on FSM processing. I tried to work with FSM but they won't even talk to you, say file is gone, you need to call the collection agency. Fine. When they called I was out of town but I listened to my messages at home and work. At home some woman left a message that either me or my attorney needed to contact them. I called them and asked what they wanted, they couldn't find my name or file, put me on hold for about 10 minutes. Then a lady got on and said we wanted to let you know that we are filing an avidavat in your county today. I said for what, she said never mind. I told her I had a lawyer and knew they were a collection agency and the lawyer said they had to send me something in writing before they filed anything. Then she started getting really loud and said just have your lawyer call us and I asked why and she said have me call and that was it.

I sent them a cease communication letter by certified mail and haven't heard from them since. They don't scare me anymore!

Hi

It is nice that the community is getting well informed about the illegal acts of Ellis Crosby and now they are interacting with them in a courageous way.

Let's continue this fight till these types of business don't get banned.

Who all support me?

Regards
Roxette

Default Ellis Crosby

I just receive a call from someone named Shanon More at Ellis Crosby (well she did not say the name of the company, I looked up the 800 number on google and found this site) and stated that I needed to call her back at 800-491-8615 Ext 207 as soon as possible or to have my legal councel call and then she said "good luck," whatever that is suppose to mean.
Anyway, my question, should I worry about this? I know that I owe people money and I'm trying to get back on my feet and get my bills paid off, but it takes time. I just want to know if I should bother calling them back or worry about this. Thanks

Hi whitetigerwy

Welcome to the forums. It is for sure that you got a call from a collection agency called Ellis Crosby whose membership has been suspended from June 01, 2005 for a period of 90 days. During this period, they are undergoing legal surveillance and you are not required to pay anything to them.

The strange part is that in spite of their membership being revoked, they are involving in such unfair practices like threatening the consumers with jails, calling the employers etc.

From your part, be rest assured that you don't have to worry about it and do not take any of their calls seriously. You can send one letter through certified mail with return receipt requested to stop all communication with you. If they continue, it will be a violation of the fdcpa law and you will take legal action against them. Let them know that you are aware of your consumer rights and won't get intimidated by their calls.

A sample letter has been place in this link. You can change it as per your needs.

http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/...te-letter.html

If they continue with their harassing calls, you can inform them that you are recording all their telephonic conversation and will present it to a lawyer. Most probably, they will stop communicating with your. If you face any problem while dealing with them, do let me know. I will be able to guide you further.

Regards
Roxette
