Whatever Janet. I work with people who actually make worse threats towards me than you hear on the phone,to my face and they have actually followed through on their threats many times in the past. So you won't get much sympathy here, just like you, I chose the profession I am in, and I am well aware of the risks, but I highly doubt the voice on the other end is actually going to come looking for you. And yes, these collectors do make these illegal threats time and time again.

I have never said that there is not two sides to the fence. I have not personally heard anything that was threatning from the people hear. That does not mean that it hasn't happened. I was not looking for anyone to cry for me. My point was is that people say and make things bigger than what they are. I could not care less about people calling me and threatning me. I was making a point. You can call me whatever you would like. I am not afraid of people coming to get me. I listen to stories from many of my family members who are cops, firefighters and some bad people also there stories of people and there lie's I grew up believing not to believe anything I hear and only half of what I see. There are many untruths on here. I believe some stuff thats on here and alot of it I don't. And Steelers1 I didn't want sympathy I just wanted to show there are two sides to every fence. As for you Guest I was a accountant for 18 years for a car dealership I was also threaten there because people cars weren't fixed on time or the bill was too high. It doesn't matter where you work you will always have some jerk threaten you. Even if you work at MacDonalds or Walmart. Jedi I hope I answered your question.

Come to think about it, I don't think I recall (can't say 100% for sure), a posting by you saying the firm never verbally harrassed people with jail, etc. - why is that . . . could it be that you were actually in the room THEN and heard it for yourself . . .hmmmmm.

I can tell you that one internet pdl DID threaten to file fraud charges on me. That is a fact. And that is a threat, which could lead to charges of extortion if push came to shove. So collectors need to be very careful when they attempt to collect a debt, because when you make fals threats in an attempt to get a person to pay a bill is extortion and yes there are collectors who have been sent to jail and have had to pay heavy fines for engaging in this type of collection activity. And also, collectors should be careful when they are calling a debtor, because I know in my state I can secretly tape a call without telling the caller and use it as evidence in court. But in some states the person can not do that and I believe in Michigan if you tape a call without the consent of the other party you can be charged with a felony.

Hey Guest, you're not the first person to say they have these threats recorded, what's the tape say and what are you going to do with it?

It can be used as evidence when a complaint is filed with the FTC and it can be turned over to the prosecutor's office to have extortion charges filed against the collector. It wouldn't be the first time a collector was charged and found guilty then sent to jail.

I would NOT pay without verification in writing first! You can always pay; don't let them grieve you while you decide. Stop--do your homework on it. You can call EZPay & find out who these people from Canada are that are calling you; ask if they have an office in Canada at all even for collection services. If they do, then get the address and main number from them. You may possibly be able to make arrangements to pay this debt locally. However, you would be in the driver's seat & can even call their customer service to get verification in writing & make the arrangements with a more professional/kinder customer service rep. in Canada. You don't have to put up with the bullying period! You still are the consumer. Good Luck.

Why are you so interested in wanting to know what is on the tape - sounds bizarre to me how you keep fishing for information.

What gives?!

Okay, I'll take the bait. Because it was posted that a conversation was taped? Would it be harmful to disclose what was said? -NOPE! Let us all know what the threatening, harrassing, unlawful tape says. Does anyone other than myself notice that it's only ever anyone (you deem) even remotely connected people to this law office that are put on trial. There's a tape that can prove what everyone here is saying, why wouldn't you all want to know what it says?!
