I was, like another person here, extremely nervous and panicking trying to figure out what I could do on such short notice. I got the call around 11:00 and they wanted me to send them $300 by 2pm. I am in between blessings right now, so I have no money to send them and I told her that. Most collection companies make arrangements with you to repay the debt. Not say, pay in full or else we're taking you to court. I immediately did a search on this company and THANK GOD i found this website or else i would have gone the rest of the day nauseaous because I was so nervous. Thanks for your help!

Lady B,
Same thing happend to me today. I was nervous, shaking, and just could not think. So i decided to call this attorney that i know because some points in our conversation popped in my head. If i am going to be arrested, why did she verify my references? She said she left a message on my home number, that was a VOIP line, i had it turned off a month ago. So i called the attorney he said he will call them, He also said i am suppose to get something in writing.
How can people make a living out of scaring others.

Katie has written it very correctly. We will be paying our debt to someone who is honest. Not to a company which is already undergoing legal actions.

That was my concern. I thought that if I am being brought up on charges, why are you calling me? Usually once that happens, you arent given the option of settling out of court correct? I havent heard back from her but I cant wait to hit her with the knowledge I have obtained thanks to websites like this.

Hi LadyB
Please use the following tips to improve your credit score.
Check for incorrect entries - It is mandatory to check your credit report for any mistakes from all the three credit reporting agencies. You can review your report for at least once in a year as well as several months before you apply for a loan.
Timely payments It will be considered a very good practice if you always pay your bills on time. Your prompt payments will put you in a much comfortable position before you apply for a loan. This point is emphasized because a late or missed payment just before applying for a loan lowers the credit score and has worse impact than a missed payment five years ago.
Bring credit balance to the minimum - It is always beneficial to reduce the credit card balances as much as possible. The FICO scores get affected due to how much money you owe on some cards relative to your total credit limit. Credit scores are seen improving if the balances are kept below 25% of the credit card limit.
Don't linger your payments It is suggested not to increase the ratio by closing an account and transferring the remaining balance to another account since the ratio of the credit card balance is linked to the credit limit. Doing this will lower the credit score which should not be generally done while you are on your way to increase your credit score.
Unused accounts to be kept active - While you are applying for a loan, it is suggested not to close any unused account. At the same time, it is suggested not to open a new account also during that time. It is said because if you are having a short credit history or less number of accounts, the credit score gets lowered when a new account is opened as there is no proven track record of it.
Please do let us know your feedback. We will appreciate your comments and suggestions for the community welfare.
Regards

I jsut had someone call me and say i was being charged with all kinds of crimes for not paying a loan. At first I had no idea what he was talkinga bout. They told me I had two hours to get them 600, which was double of what I borrowed. I am unsure of what to do from here.

Hi Nicole
Welcome to the forums. It seems that you are still not informed about the illegal practices done by Ellis Crosby. You can browse through this forum extensively to get a better idea on the said company.
Ellis Crosby has been using all sorts of illegal pretexts to make people feel guilty and thus, they pay to them hurriedly.
Even if you pay anything to them out of fear, your money will not go to your debt account if you really owe. Make use of your consumer rights before you commit any mistake.
Regards
Roxette

Thanks for the info. I have read here and saw that they were phony. I guess I wanted to make sure there was not going to be a true trial like they told me. They tried to act like they could contact my bosses and things like that. It was real ugly what they said and did.

In this forum, almost all the grievances are of the same sort but we have so far never heard any such painful story where a legal action was possible by the said company.
It allows me to conclude that they can only bark but never bite.

So, it sounds like they are just another creditor trying to get money paid to them and they are using illegal measures to do what they want.
That takes a load off of my mind that they are just threatening people and scaring people. I am glad I did not rush to try and send them the money.
Thanks goodness for forums like this!!

It is a very good idea to do some research before any company sounds fishy in their activities. Maybe you can save some extra pain from occurring in the later times.

I like many others became overly worried that the things they said were going to happen, go to jail, prosecution of hot check writing, internet frausd of collecting usdollars with no intent to pay etc... and then I called E-payday and they said that EllisCrosby no longer had the account and were going out of business for illegal collecting practices. I called my bank immediately to see if there was a way to get my money back and they said that as soon as the transaction posts, I can dispute the charge and pay the correct company. Needless to say this entire situation has got me on edge as I am unsure who to trust. Who really has the rights to collect on this account and has my payment which was $100 more than I owed cleared the debt I owe on the account??? I am contacting an attorney to see what my next step should be. Good look to all that have been taken advantage of by this company...

Ellis Crosby is out of the business for doing illegal collection practices. Class action lawsuits have been filed against them for using scare techniques and harassments on the consumers.
If you pay anything to Ellis Crosby, they won't deposit it to your debt account. They will pocket your money and you will have to bear this financial loss.
There are multiple posts about their illegal activities in this forum. After reading them, you will realize that you are not the only one who has gone through this situation. I hope you can find some justice after you file your complaints at the FTC, BBB and the state attorney general office.
