Hey RN, they called me on 11/15/05 demanding $1400 by 3pm and to wire to interstate wire comp bur in cheyenne, is this the same place you sent this money to? I never sent it and I haven't heard anything else. They never identified themselves as ECA or AGA.

I am confused I got a call from a cell phone with a florida area code in the same county the previous address for ECA was. They will not identify themselves but just said to send the money to interstate wire bureau with a receive code of 4192 in Cheyenne WY. Do you think perhaps it is Ellis Crosby or Anthony Galloway?

I have no doubt that it is anthony galloway and associates, since ellis crosby is out of business. Check it out again. I have been told by the company here in florida that they are crooks.

Toni

Do not send you money until you know the complete details of the accounts for which you are paying. You have the right to get it in writing as per the fdcpa law. The collection agency has to validate the debt before you agree to pay them with anything.

Toni, your money is not going to your debt account even if you keep paying them with the amount. Use your consumer rights otherwise money once gone from you will never come back.

They told me the IP address (my e-mail) was traced back to my employer and they were going to get them involved and that I would be charged with fraud. They were trying to scare me into paying and then they would say forget it, "you just need to pay your debt to society". I had a feeling it was them. I am going to TRY not to worry about it. I was just confused as to why I needed to wire money to interstate wire bureau, which I was told was the bank I owed the money to. Does that sound like a bank? All I know is they scared me half to death and had me thinking I was on my way to the federal pen until I read this forum

The CA wants to keep their basis strong but they are doing it through illegal means. Earlier, while Ellis Crosby was in business, they said the same things along with arrest warrants and other frauds. But see, a company doing legitimate business will never scare you with anything. Because they know that they are doing the right thing and they won't give you such threatening.

This company works with a set plan to scare people at the most. They earn money only if they can scare you and you send it to them in panic. If you don't research on them, you don't come to know that you are actually much stronger than them.

Back in april i had an encouter with this company
Ellis crosby and asso..they contacted me on my job threatening me that i was going to get fired, how they had the police looking for me along with a warrant for my arrest..now of course i was very nervous about this for i didn't want any of this to happen...when i asked for more information they couldn't really supply it but due to i didn't want the extra hassle..i paid them all this money for which i never received documentation to support my proof of payment. I have been calling every month since then to get this letter that they "so called sent"..i had been dealing with a rude male named mr. Wakefield and i keep getting the run around..
..
Is it too late to get any recourse in this matter..for i know for a fact i didn't owe as much as they said i did..but due to the nature of my job..i couldn't have any trouble.

Hi Leslie,

I really feel for you at this time and think that you should have done some research before sending money to Ellis Crosby.

This company was trying to scam people beyond imagination some months back. Now that the company has filed for bankruptcy, but still they are using other names for doing their business. But the tactics of collection still remains the same, it's illegal.

You say that you don't have any receipts to prove your payment. This could have been a very strong proof if any other CA contacts you for the same debt some time later. Now, that you don't have anything to prove for what you have been with, you might have to start from the beginning.

But you should file your complaints to the consumer protection office as well as the FTC and the BBB. Request them to go through your complaint because people are getting scammed by companies day after day.

Regards
Roxette

I was harassed by Ellis, Crosby, and Associates back at the end of August. They were very threatening to me and I was very scared. I had finally paid them not knowing exactly what was happening to them. They cashed my treasurer's check in the amount of $515.00 (315.00 more than what I owed) and now I am being called from another agency based out of Chicago, Illinois called First Credit of America. They told me that Ellis, Crosby and Associates forwarded the debt to them to collect payment. They also told me that the only way to clear this up was to get a letter from Ellis, Crosby and Associates to state that my account was paid (I need their letterhead). How can I when they have been shut down? I tried calling the # I had but it was something very different. First Credit told me that if I couldn't do that, then I would have to pay another $350 to them and that collection for that money would continue. I have a copy of the check that was cashed by Ellis but they will not accept it. Please help. I do not know what to do anymore.

Welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear that you experienced problems with Ellis Crosby & Associates. ECA is currently undergoing legal troubles, and has filed bankruptcy. Chances are your account got sold during this process. This was no mistake, as it happened to several others, even before he filed for bankruptcy.

You mentioned that you kept a copy of the check that was cashed by ECA. This should be all they need, since ECA is no longer in business and undergoing a law suit.

Mike

I doubt that First Credit is much different than Ellis Crosby if they won't accept a copy of the cashiers check. Is your copy one from the bank that shows that it was cashed with the endorsement? If not, you might try getting a copy with the endorsement and sending it to First Credit with a letter saying this was payment in full on the account. There sure are a lot of these types of companies poping up everywhere.

Leslie-you can contact the florida attorney generals office and they will send you an affidavit. They have a lawsuit out against this company and make sure you attach your money wire receipt to the affidavit after you have it notarized and mailed back. You can go to the website for the florida attorney generals office and get the phone #..you can also file a complaint on their website
