I have tried to call these people about an outstanding bill that i was not aware of; until i tried to re-establish phone service with TMobile. All i get is an automated service and then im put on hold. when they finally come back its another automated service sending me to a voice mail box. They ask for my name and telephone # then it hangs up.
I have not received any letters from this company nor have i received any phone calls. How can i get in touch with them to clear up this old bill.

thanks
laura

Hi Iwishyoulove

Welcome to the forums.

It seems that the previous company whom you made the payment has not updated your account with the credit bureaus. Write a letter to that company explaining the need to update your file because it is hurting your credit ratings negatively and you are being contacted by some other agency for the same account.

You can also place a dispute with the credit bureau that has reported this account. They will investigate it with your information providers. After your dispute is found to be valid, they will update it and send you a free copy. Usually, it takes 30 days to send you a free copy of your CR. Hopefully, you will get positive results and improve your credit worthiness.

I have been in contact with SAM and they agreed upon a 50% settlement but refuse to send me anything in writing. Is this acceptable practice? They said they would then send a closing statement after payment was recieved 3-21 business days later. Should I pay this and expect the account to be closed or are they just trying to be coniving and get some money while they can??

Don't accept any settlement deals without a written note. The company may back off from their words after receiving the money.

They will sure give it to you in writing. Wait till that time!

I would like to, but they said that the agreement upone 50% would only be good for 15 days. Should I still wait?

Superior Asset Management is a collection agency having services in FL, GA and PA. Do you have a call back number?

I guess, you should inquire with them if they use any other name of their service.

I paid my debt to an agency called southwest credit and now there name has been changed to sam. Only southwest credit still has me as unpaid and I can't get in contact with sam to settle this misunderstanding.
