If your company utilizes an outside payroll company, ask your HR person for the contact information. Contact the payroll company and fill out the necessary forms with them.

Was any of this documented? If it was it shouldn't be hard to clean up.
In a simliar situation, I once had a severely over-drawn checking account with a bank that I was trying to make payments towards my credit card/ loans. When Id make the payment they told me they wouldnt put it in my checking -- they would pay the credit card / loan. But they didn't. So I started to walk into the teller and make my payments and get receipts.
If it becomes a habitual problem then I would suggest getting a new bank account for your direct deposit until you can get back enough money to clear up that account. If you're now caught up because of their actions, you may wish to try and make due for the next 2 weeks.
Contacting HR should get you somewhere, though. Usually if you talk to the right people (or their boss) you can get them to work with the bank to reverse the payment. It CAN be done!

With my payroll, it's always the NEXT paycheck that is either started or cancelled.
When I changed my account number, I ended up getting a paper check one week, and then the new account number went into affect the following pay period.
That could have always been the case too.
None the less, sorry to hear of your situation. Do the payday loan people plan on taking it out of your account? Even if they say no, I'd be leary.

Hopefully your check is now a paper check and not direct deposit. At the company I work at, we take requests for cancellation of direct deposits very seriously. The only way that it cant be cancelled before your check is if it is reported to the payroll company too late. Because obviously once your payroll has processed we cannot retrieve the funds back as they are on its way to your bank. I would also suggest giving at least a week notice of any changes you need to make to your direct deposit. This will ensure the changes go with your check, depending on when your company processes payroll.

Glad to hear it. Like I said, if the paper checks dont work out for you, then open a new checking account. This has worked [for me] in the past.

In any payday loan situation when it gets nasty, that's what your going to have to do anyway...open up a new checking account.
I took out a loan, had a problem when they did the whole taking it back at 4am. It was resolved by my credit union.
The second loan went through fine, cause I changed my payday to Monday.
The 3rd...I got into a bind and didn't have the money. So anyway, they tell me that if I don't pay by Monday (the following Monday) that it'll go to wage garnishment. Now this is the company that told me my ONLY option was to send it Western Union when I defaulted. I explained to them it would have to be the following Friday, and then I said if you have to send it to wage garnishment thats fine.
Anyway, so I find out that they took the money out again....which caused more problems.
They will keep hitting your account....I'd just be careful and would recommend changing account numbers.
