Has anyone dealt with Collection Bureau of America?

I received a payment request from Collection Bureau of America in Hayward, CA on Behalf of Comcast-Chicago. I received this on the 5th, even though the bill in question was paid directly to Comcast on August 16th. Has anyone dealt with them?? Are they going to become a huge pain in my side?
I already sent the validation request off to them, hopefully that will settle things, and when they try to validate it they will see its already paid.

Wilson, you must be having the details of your payment made in your credit report also. This is also a sufficient proof.

The name itself is weird. Wait until they validate your debt before you pay ANYTHNG. If they dont send you anything, then don't pay. Did you keep any receipts of your payment?

I'll never pay them anything, as I paid comcast on August 16th, a little over two weeks before the date of the letter they sent me.
I paid Comcast with my Debit card and and have the Bank 's reference numeber for the transaction. I am hoping if they do as they are supposed to and are actually a upstanding company and they properly validate the debt, Comcast will tell them it's been paid and they should basically go away. Otherwise, if they say its a valid debt, then I will hit them with the bank record.

AS this little experiment progresses, I will post my experiences (good or bad) so if anyone else has dealings in the future, they may have an idea what to expect.

WEll CBA did actually sign for one of the validation requests I sent them. I was half expecting them to play the game of not signing for it. For future reference, this is the one sent to their office address, not the PO Box address.

I was shocked today when I went to my mailbox and found a letter from CBA stating the account is paid in full AND verifying my account HAS NOT and WILL NOT be reported to any credit reporting agency.

As we all get frustrated with the Ellis Crosby's and Allied Assets of the world, its nice to know there are companies out there that do business as they are supposed to without resorting to harassment, threats and intimidation.

I have just recently had experience with this company and for a similar reason. This company has been sending me collection notices for a supposed debt to Comcast. However, every time I speak to someone at Comcast they say I have a balance of $0 on my account at the previous address. They also have told me they don't send their accounts out to a collection agency. They do the collections within their own company. I called the phone # on the collections bill and the man who answered didn't even sound like a professional business. He answered by saying "Hello, uh I mean, Collections, Collection Bureau... can I help you?" That's an exact quote. Doesn't sound like a real collection agency to me. And, when I told him he was mistaken and that I do not owe Comcast any money and I would not be paying this bill he sent, he said "Well, whatever." and hung up on me. Anyone receiving a bill from this company should report them to the Better Business Bureau without sending them money.

Be careful CBA Collection Bureau America from Hayward is a fraud company that will continue to haress you for the interest even when you have paid the full amount. With their own calculations they come up with some silly amount of interest and then they chase you through automated phone calls. They will call you at odd times like 4 AM in the morning, 11pm at night and sometimes 7 to 8 times a day. If you have already paid the original company, now they want the interest on that delayed payment. That is their commission. Recently Washington Hospital in Fremont has hired them and this agency is creating hell for everyone.

well... tey are a licenced and bonded collection agency. Having worked for the company for over 6 years through merger, sale, and transfer they are 100% legit and a very good company to work for. By the way Federal Law states they have to verify the info only durring the first 30 days, but if you deal with respect they will give you respect

You have paid the bill to Comcast directly, then you need not worry. You have the details of the transaction too. So, cheer up !!!

I received a collections notice from them for a bill to my city. I researched the company on the Internet. They are definitely a scam trying to get your credit card number.

I think good ethics needs to check the facts. They are not a scam, and are a licenced and bonded collection agency and have been in business for over 50 yrs. check with the city business licence dept they will verify they are legit

Their automated machine has been hounding me 7days a week up to 2 calls a day but refuse to verify any information. Every person I talk to says I owe a different amount of money from $270-$1800 dollars. They say I have past due accounts dating back to 1991, and they are unable to send faxes and unwilling to contact anyone on my behalf. They think that just becuase they have my phone number I should be willing to divulge all of my personal information to them. When I contact the original biller they say there is nothing for me to verify for payment since they cannot match up any of the debt they are claiming to bills that I accrued. Not sure what to do next

THEY ARE A TOTAL SCAM!!!! This company sends out bogus bills (that look official) in hope that you will just pay them. When I contacted them to tell them I had closed my account months ago and that it was paid in full, the guy said "oh, ok, we'll take care of it and hung up." Mind you he had none of my information so I have no idea how he could "take care of it." Just to be safe I contacted my old cable company and sure enough they said I was fine and that they don't hire Collection Bureau of America for anything. Report Collection Burea of America to the Better Business Burea, I did.
