Another storm Rita approaching New Orleans

Before New Orleans overcomes the strain that Katrina caused, another threat is knocking there. Hurricane Rita has already collected enormous strength and moving towards southern coast of Florida.

Forecasters are saying that if the storm follows the predicted route, it will batter west of New Orleans before Friday evening. Even if it does bypass New Orleans, heavy rainstorm can cause huge flood there.

The tide has started to surge additional four to six feet in the Florida Keys. Residents of Louisiana, Texas, Key West and other coastal towns have been asked for voluntary evacuation.

New Orleans is not dried even; another shower is ready to wet it. Most painful fact is that we cannot do anything but wait and watch….

Oh my god!!! It's just that God is not able to tolerate the sins that we have done to the mother Earth. We are punished at regular intervals.

A per the meteorological department, warning has been declared all along the Florida Keys and it is expected to move towards farther west into the Gulf of Mexico. During that time, the warning will be discontinued.

However, the Cuban provinces will still remain warned specially the provinces of Matanzas, Ciudad De Habana, and La Habana. This warning will also be discontinued later.

The meteorological department warns to take precautions to protect the life and property as soon as possible.

This brings back memories of all the hurricanes from last year that hit Florida and a couple back to back from opposite ends. The last two years have been the worst Hurricane seasons yet.

On my local news station, they said that at one point this storm was off the charts, meaning that if there was such a thing as a cat6 storm this would be one.Do you think Global warming has anything to do with it?Will these storms just keep getting bigger and stronger?I live on the east coast and we have never had a storm hit us that was more than a cat2 by the time it got to us.If we were told to leave it would be a mess,I dont think anyone in my area is prepared for a major storm.

As unfortunate as it is, I will be curious to see how the government responds this time around.

Twokid...good point about the global warming. The unfortunate thing about living near the Gulf, is that the water is very warm there--ideal for hurricane development. It's basically a hurricane hotspot, as Kansas and the Midwest is a hotspot for tornadoes. I think the Global Warming is just beginning to go into effect, but let's hope that these terrible hurricanes are not harbingers of what's to come.

Texas is in high alert due to Rita. So many people have been evacuated and still many are changing cities. The roads are completely blocked and vehicles remain stranded for hours. Besides, the gulf coast is becoming violent each day and is about to take adverse shape. All the land seen today near the coast is expected to be submerged under water.

It is very devastating to watch everything going on over there. I heard on the radio this morning that a bus carrying evacuees had exploded. I spoke with a few clients that I have in the Houston area, and they were telling me of stories of how people were running out of gas on the freeways and that some people could not evacuate because of lack of gas.

Having grown up both in the carolinas and florida, I have been through quite a few cat 4 storms.

Twokidtwocat--

I can sympathize with you when you say you dont think people in your area are ready for a major storm to hit. Last hurricane season, rose awareness to most of us over here in Florida with all the storms hitting us back to back. Now this year with Katrina and Rita, you will be surprised of how serious people will start taking these things.

The bus that exploded was supposed to be carrying oxygen with it.

My Aunt lives in New Orleans. She however did not deal with as much damage as most. I guess she lives on one of the higher elevations in New Orleans. She did say that it has not rained since people were alowed to return to the state. Which is good for those who have roof damage. My Aunt had roof damage and FEMA will not help because they say there is asbestos in her roof. I can't figure out how they came to that conclusion because they never even went up on her roof. It is impossible to find supplies down there only a few store are open. Good luck to all that live there!! Good luck to all that have had to move from there.
