I paid off my account and now they are saying i owe them more money. What do i need to do?

I owe fingerhut and it has been six years since I have had an account with them!I know that is on my credit but I just was wondering doesn't take 7 years to erase of your credit?

Hi Samantha
Welcome to the forums. Have you taken the receipts of your payments made to the FingerHut account? This is an important proof that you have paid towards your account and the company claims that the account has not been fully paid.
Contact the company and ask them to provide you the complete details of the unpaid amount. If you find the given amount legitimate, you can think of paying it off. Otherwise, it will keep hurting your credit file.

chmartinbaby06, I guess your debt account must be past the SOL period. There is 7 years reporting time for any negative information to stay in the credit report. I hope the said account will disappear from your credit report by next year.
