Hi, I am new to this forum. My beef is with with allied interstate Collections from Columbus, Ohio.
I had a phone stolen this year in January and my service was with Verizon Wireless. I reported the theft to the police and the FCC, but my phone was not replaced until May. Verizon claims I authorized my service to be restored in February, which I did not (I didn't have a phone).
I recently started receiving harrassing calls from Allied every 2-3 days which claimed I owed three times what my last stated amount from Verizon was.
I kept trying to explain why I disputed the bill and the amount with no success. I recently moved and am unemployed. These people are very patronizing and unprofessional. They use bully tactics which I believe to be unlawful.
Allied collectors are very argumentive, abusive, and they use intimidation and threat tactics.
I don't answer the phone anymore unless I check my caller ID.

I would like to know where to file a legal complaint against this company.

Ask Allied Interstate to validate your debt. If they say that the amount is tripled, they need to put proper calculations of the said debt as per the fdcpa law.

After you lost the phone and you filed complaints with the police and the FCC, you must be having the affidavit showing the date of your complaint. This will prove that you didn't have any phone in the month of February.

You can lodge your complaints at the FTC, BBB and the attorney general office in your state with the affidavit and other necessary papers of the contract with Verizon Wireless.

Did you understand the term and conditions of the contract you signed with Verizon. Why are you just now dealing with this? My guess is that you do not understand your legal contractual obligations with Verizon otherwise you would know why your bill is so high. You must have been made aware that you had a final bill that was going unresolved. You just chose to ignore the problem untill now. You should get a job when you stop moving around and make arrangments to pay a bill that deep down inside you know you do owe it. If you didn't like the terms/conditions of the contract, you should not have signed it. It's OK to be mad at a bill you can't pay, but don't beat up the guy who has a job and is trying to get you to do the right thing. PAY YOUR BILL!!

JUST BEING REAL

No offense here and I understand that we should pay our debt at the priority. I also understand that we have signed the contract which makes us responsible for it.

But my question to you is that if everything had been mentioned in the contract so clearly, then what is the problem with Verizon in validating it. They should be easily able to do this since it has been agreed by the consumer when he signing it.

It is only when sufficient information is not provided by the company, problems to pay on an unknown debt persists.

Go bad word yourself. Clearly, you're one of the bad word with this company.

Let's keep it clean folks. Oh, and you are posting on a message that is like five years old. -- Goldenbast
