This is better than I thought. This company is located
in Texas and must follow the state law on collections
as well as fdcpa. I am not 100% certain but I think Texas only gives them 30 days to validate or they must drop it. Of course they ain't gonna tell you that.Look up the statutes on texas state website. It should be listed under Texas finance code.

I received a voice mail requesting I call back. I Googled and found this thread. I was in the process of calling back while reading through it. The person pulled up my account and told me that he talked to me this morning. He didn't, but I am fine with that resolution...

These people keep calling me about an account my former daughter-in-law had. She fell for the encyclopedia salespeople. They tried to send the books back, they weren't what was promised. This was years back. It was in 2001, my name is not on there...they lied and said they put my number "in case of emergency"...which was a lie..I didn't have my current phone number then. I have told them it's not me...and not to call. They want my son's phone number, and I refuse to give it to them. They are still calling...what can I do about it?

I received a message today from this number and was asked to call back for a specific extension. They were asking for my maiden name. I'm a bit confused as I have not had anything in my maiden name for years in the US except for a bank account I no longer use. I do have debt in Canada, but that's been over 7 years. I don't know if I should call back. Can anyone please give me some advice? Thank you!

Default Urgent personal business

I received a call from this number on my answering machine from a "Mr. Lopez". The next day, at 8 a.m., a call was left from the same number by a "Mrs. Hill" who said it was urgent personal business.
Previous calls were "Please stay on the line, etc.", sometimes several times a day.

Default They are liars and crooks....aka a Collection Agency

They called and harassed me for some time over two debts that some scumbag and his son (both with my name, one jr and one sr) took out. I told them repeatedly it wasn't me, but I refused to give them any information about me other than to confirm that the information they had wasn't me.

I sent them a drop dead letter return receipt requested and whadda you know, they sent me their letter just one day before they got mine. Yeah right.

I sent the account to the FTC and called and bitched at the lady for a week or so just screwing with her. Even after they discharged it, I kept calling her back. The conversation went like this "your name and phone number has been removed from the account, we will no longer contact you"...."Yeah, I know, but you guys harassed me so I thought I would harass you back". It got to where she hung up on me.

Final coup-de-gras was when I contacted Chase (the original account holder) and got ahold of the President. I reamed him out over email about the enabling of a collection agency to break federal law on his behalf and how if I was ever contacted again by LTD, I would sue them and him. I also let him know that the collection agency sent the full account number out on the letter, which is a violation of something (a friend who collects let me know that). I got a slobberingly drippy apology letter from the President's office letting me know that they contacted this collector personally and made sure I would never be contacted again. This was all after I was removed from the account, I was just screwing with them.

Default Third party collections

According to the Federal Trade Commission if a collection agency calls regarding a third party you can ask them not to call again. From the FTC

Default Nuisance Calls

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I had a call from these people the other day looking for Samuel Santana. I told the woman there was no such person here. THEN she asked me if I knew such a person. I told her again, very nicely, that she had the WRONG NUMBER. I receied a call at 7:01 am this morning with no message left. Another call came through minutes later, which I answered - same woman looking for the same person. This time I was not nice and told her that when they call someone at 7:00 in the morning, they should at least know if they have the correct number. I work until late at night and was sleeping when she called. I found this thread and called direct - at my expense - and asked to speak to a manager. I was told there were several. She put my call through and nobody answered, just a click and I was cut off. I called back, and spoke to an operator there who said she was looking to find someone in charge to speak to and AT THE SAME TIME, asked if this was regarding Samuel Santana, so there is some way for them to place the phone number with whomever they are looking for immediately. I told her that this was a listed local phone number if they cared to check the listings for where I live and to stop calling this number, etc. She hung up on me.

I hope this resolves the matter but, if it doesn't, can anyone give me the direct phone number of an authority there with whom I can place a complaint??

Thanks

Default annoying uninformative calls for 866 numbers regarding debt.

I've been recieving calls for months now for a Michelle Ashori? at number 866-324-5257 and a Nick On shanibi?? at 866-882-5881. I finally called both numbers back and it was LTD and some other debt collector that I can't recall. I kindly asked them both to take the number off of their list. They were pretty quick and polite. I then get a call today from a Jennifer at 866-2500 ext. 6253 asking for my exact name. How they got my name for this number is alarming because I am not in the phone directory my husband is. I have not called Jennifer back and not sure if I plan to or not. I am just so frustrated with the whole thing. We don't have caller ID wich makes it harder to tag the caller. When we first moved our number was pretty easy to get mixed up. We had callers for all different people and finally it died down...now this!!! Aggggh I answer phones all day I don't want to come home and hear ours ringing off the hook too. So BEWARE I have been researching similar instances and it sounds like a SCAM!!! Don't give out any info not even your name, you might end up paying for someone elses debt.

This phone number is for LTD Financial Services, a collection agency. If you wish to make the calls stop, you will need to send them a written request to no longer contact you by phone. (their address is listed above) send it certified mail, return receipt requested.

Default LTD keeps calling

I kept getting calls a few months back on money they claimed I owed. They had parts of my past history correct but not all (e.g. parts of old addresses). I've never owed a balance on my credit card in my life so I told them it was nonsense and to stop calling. They kept on calling, and then they started calling for my husband, who also has excellent credit. Finally, I reported them to FCC. They hadn't called for a while but they started again. Then, they said it was a call for my dad (got the last name right but not the first name). I told them to stop calling, since I'll report them. My dad probably has the best credit ever. These people are nuts! They keep calling and don't stop. DON'T give out any info!

LTD FInancial is technically NOT a collection agency. What they do is BUY debt from creditors and then bully people to recover.

I was paying $100 a month to a previous collection agency. It was an agreement I made with them and they accepted it.

Suddenly, the other day, I started getting calls from LTD.
When I spoke to them, they told me that they bought the debt and that I now owe the balance to them. I told them fine, and said that I have no problem continuing paying the $100 a month. They told me that the only way I can pay them monthly is if I gave them my bank account number for them to set up post-dated withdrawls. I told them absolutely NO. The rep put on his manager who was very confrontational. They eventually told me they were going to forward the issue to their legal dept. All along I offered to pay the debt via check. I've read about them and how they withdraw more than they're supposed to.

I called the Department of Banking in my state and he told me to forward the info to him and that he will call LTD. He also told me NOT to answer any more of their calls

Waiting to see what happens

a JDB still must comply with the FDCPA as they are considered a 3rd party.that means when they buy it they are the owner, but not the OC.only the OC isn't bound by the FDCPA.
