Hi Htgt123

Welcome to the forums.

LTD Financial Service uses the number 800-741-2100. Please ask Mr. Derby to mention the purpose of the call so that you can act accordingly.

Regards
Roxette

Everyone has a unique experience while dealing with a particular company. I hope that someone will post here about their experiences with this company.

Htgt123, make sure that if they are trying to recover a past debt from you, it has to be within the fdcpa law. Get everything in writing before you give your word and start making payments.

Regards
Roxette

I received an email from a friend of mine who now currently works at my old position. He tells me that a guy called and asked to speak to me. He said that the guy is dealing with the check in progress of refugees from New Orleans and he logs people's Social Security Number when they come through. He said that somebody used my name and social security number. He left a number 800-741-2100, ext. 2475 and asked me to call back.

I called and they said that I owed them money.

Never call them back! LTD Services will lie, scam, and illegally give out your information to strangers.

Do not trust LTD Service. Call a counseling agent first.

Hi R

Welcome to the forums. I prey that your social security number has not been tampered. However, it will be a good idea to keep a check on your credit report religiously.

Roxette

R,

You can put a complaint against them at the FTC, BBB and the state attorney general office. But if you have any proof against them, it will be very helpful. Next time, if they call you, record the telephonic conversation and inform them that you wish to present it to your lawyer.

I have been recieving thye same calls from a Mr. Derby. He has harrassed me saying I owe a bill from 3 years ago that was paid in full. I even called the original company and they show it was paid in full too. He refuses to send me any documentation and calls repeatedly. He continues to "offer to give a lower payoff amount". I have checked my credit reports so he hasn't showed up on there. I think it is some scam. Should I be worried? how do get him to leave me alone. I tried to block the number on my phone, but i can't because it is a toll free number.

I realize that the debt has been paid in full and is appearing with this status in your credit report. But, the creditors are not willing to send you any written proof about this paid debt and a collection agency is trying to offer a settlement amount for it.

In such a situation, send a written letter to them stating that the debt has been paid in full and has been updated in your credit report. In such a case, they are trying to collect on an already paid debt and thus causing harassment. This is causing violation of the fdcpa law and if they do not stop such calls, you will be forced to take legal actions against them.

Being in the stronger side, you can inform them that you are recording all the telephonic conversations and wish to present it to your lawyer.

Here's the best advice I can give anyone regarding LTD Financial Services - CONTACT AN ATTORNEY AND DO NOT SPEAK TO THEM. These people are trying to collect the debt of my ex-husband. We've been divorced for six years, yet they have harassed me at work, at home, and even on my cell phone. The best thing to do is to call them after hours and leave a message with the name, address, and telephone number of your attorney. Then, advise your attorney to write them a letter stating that they are to only deal with him. Otherwise, you will receive several telephone calls a day whether you deserve them or not. This is an organization of cretins and are not to be trusted. They have claimed several things that are absolutely untrue. MSN Today has several good articles regarding these debt collectors. Most times, they are trying to collect debts that are years old, and if you talk to them, it can restart the statute of limitations on the debt. BEWARE!

Hi Lois

Welcome to the forums.

Thanks for offering some valuable help to the community. It's true that LTD financial has been involving in some illegal activities and pulls out money from the people accounts. Everyone needs to be cautious when LTD people make a call at your cell phone, home or work. Sending a cease and desist letter has been supported by the Federal government and a lawsuit can be filed if they contact you after receiving your letter. Make sure that the letter is sent certified with return receipt requested.

You are correct here but I would like to make a modification in your statement. Talking to the collection agency does not restart the SOL period. The SOL is renewed only when payment is made to the account that was in default. SOL is calculated from the day the account showed date of last activity. But if you pay towards that account again, SOL is renewed from the beginning.

You have made a very smart move by involving your attorney in this process. You are always in charge of filing a class action lawsuit against LTD Financial.

Regards
Roxette

Did you call them in return? You should know what this call is all about. If you don't respond it, they might put you in deeper troubles.

I have SEVERAL messages on my phone from A Mr Clemens from LTd. Called back and ask what they were; receptionist transferred me without responding. I hung up. I AM SO GLAD I CHECKED THIS OUT FIRST! Thank you so much. When he calls back, and I know he will, I will let him know I have our conversation recorded and tell him that I will be speaking to my lawyer.
AGAIN-THANK YOU FOR GIVING US A HEADS UP>
